How does the A-Pillar trim with the handle on it come off?

I was pulling on it thinking it was clips like most everything else, but I can't figure out which way to pull.

also tips on pulling the headliner out of the way of the roof near the Nutzerts would be appreciated.

There are 2 plugs near the oh crud handle.... Remove those and use a torx screwdriver to remove the torx screws... then you should be able to wiggle it loose...

to remove the headliner... Remove the visors... and oh crud handles in the front and rear... I usually remove the seat belts in the front to make it easier...

I don't need to remove the headliner, I just need to move it back an inch or so, I don't want to hit it with a drill bit.

Are the plugs ON the ends of the handle?

the 'plug' looking things on mine don't look like they are actually plugs.

it just unsnaps after you've removed the handle, if it's never been off before it'll probably be tight as the dickens - try to use your fingers on both sides and work down the a-pillar until you start to loosen it up and it should pull right off

Don't you wish all your other interior trim parts fit as nice and tight as those silly plugs? Or am I the only one that has looked at them and thought... gee, wish they'd done that all over!

ohh i thought you had the handle off already

get like an eyeglass screw driver and work around the plugs in the end of the handle, eventually itll start pulling the plug out - first time gettin the plugs out is a bear, but they're a thick plasticy rubber, you won't do much damage to them even if you're rough

and he already told ya about the torx ;)

and yes they're plugs, they just actually match the curvature of the handle :)

IIRC on the newer models (05+?) it is actually something like a 6mm bolt instead of a torx-head. Might want to take a flashlight and double-check before you go crazy trying to get a torx screwdriver to go in an opening that doesn't exist.

In my 05 it is either a 4.5 or 5.5.....I forget which. My fractional equivalent would not fit through the hole down to the bolt. But yes, it was a hex head bolt.

right when I opened up the plugs with my fingers, I noticed what, if i remember correctly, was not a torx, but a 7/32" bolt.

hahaha

as of now, I have my roof rack on top, with all of its wires through an RTV'd hole through my roof, all of the long wires are neatly bundled above my headliner, and all of the short ones with Discos sitting just in the top of the B-pillar.

Also, Boiler, my phone died and can't find my charger :x
