Post subject:  Relay Wiring Help!

I'm installing a 3 block relay from painless wiring and it is not quite as painless as I had hoped.

First of all I decided to follow the instructions ( http://www.painlesswiring.com/Manuals/3 ... uction.pdf ) for ground activation since I figured I might need to use my CB when the car is off.
Is this a good idea or should I make it a power activated relay?

Secondly, the switch I had bought has 3 prongs (Power, ACC, and Ground), I assume this is to power the LED on the switch. I'm unsure of what wire to connect to what prong of the switch for whichever method I choose to power the relay.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One question... why are you putting your CB on an external switch? Seems redundant being as it has an on/off in the CB.

Was considering it as a fail-safe so that if I wire it to constant hot I feel I might be more likely to remember to turn at least one of the switches off.

I guess it might make more sense to go with just the CB.

i can't tell you how many times i've left my CB on all night and forgot about it until the next day, it's got a very, very low amount of draw

if you draw your battery down by forgetting and leaving it on, you need a new battery anyway

put it on a power all the time connection and just control the power at the cb

So will the circuit look like this instead?

Also, where does that top wire go?

Sorry for all the questions, but I have never had any luck with wiring.

if thats the relay pin out, if you look at it like a clock, the only 2 that would have to be connected to the radio would be #3 and #4 which would give it constant power from the battery
