Fixed the ground for the radio. Disassambled and reassembled the mount. Switched from an HD spring to a MD springs. Nothing has changed.

I got a spare 2' Firestix II antenna recently and I cannot seem to set the SWR on it. No matter what I try it is almost always in the red zone around the 3.5:1 area. This is what FireStix.com says about that. Quote: If SWR is in the "red zone" on all channels, you probably have an electrical short in your coax connectors, or your mounting stud was installed incorrectly and is shorted. DO NOT USE YOUR RADIO UNTIL YOU HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM.
The 4' antenna I have 1.2:1 and works fine. When I disconnect the antenna from the back of the CB, the CB shuts off, as if the CB is grounded by the antenna. Is that the issue or is that normal. Any ideas. |

reevaluate your lead? it looks.. un-good perhaps grounding itself to the mount ? |
