I have the stock RBQ radio in my 05 CRD and it recently started doing a strange thing. If I turn the Jeep off while on sirius, it keeps the station when I turn it to on and wait for the wait to start light, but when I turn the key to start it goes to channel 184 for 'updating'. Only does it if listening to sirius and it keeps the sirius station if its in any other mode like CD. Sirius has sent the reciever some fix a couple of times but no luck. Its an annoyance more then anything, but wondered if anyone has any ideas. Thanks - Vic |

Hi Vic, I have a guess. If this has just been a recent thing. I am guessing that you are now experiencing very cold weather. It is possible that because of the cold, your battery voltage during cranking is falling low enough to cause the radio to lose it's memory information. You might be able to to a test to support or disprove this theory by selecting your station, and then shut the vehicle off as usual. Now pull the fuse the powers the sat radio receiver. Wait a moment and re insert the fuse. Now just turn the ignition to on and see if you see the exact same behavour as your complaint. If I am correct, without cranking the engine you will still be returned to the default condition. Vehicle battery voltage (12V) drops considerably, during cranking. When the weather is very cold, the bat. voltage drops even more as the battery's capacity is greatly diminished with low temperatures. It the test supports my "guess", I may have a solution. Good luck, John |

I'm thinking along those same lines. Yes it is a recent problem and it started when it got cold. I put a battery charger on overnight thinking that would solve the problem but it didn't impact it. I am going to try your check next and see if its the same behavior. I do think its linked to the starter circuit somehow but not sure how. Maybe its an early warning that the battery is going bad? Thanks - Vic |
