Installed my CB antenna today. Now just waiting for the actual CB to come in the mail on Monday!

Check it out:

Before I started, I installed a little rubber stopper on top of the adjustment bolt on the mount so it doesn't screw up the paint on my body (you will see later):
Image

To get started, I first removed the passenger side tail light assembly:

Then drilled pilot holes using the mount as a template:

Then installed the mount using self-threading sheet metal screws (about 1 inch):

Re-installed the tail-light assembly (no pic. Figured you get the point). Did NOT cut a notch out of the assembly because I wanted to keep moisture out of the assembly. It's a snug fit, but it fits!

I had a little tab thingy to run the cable through to keep it snug against the door jam and out of the way:
Image

The cable just runs into the cargo area and will eventually be tucked under the carpet and run to the front where the radio will be installed.

Finished product (sorry its a bit dark):

Aren't you glad we installed that little rubber stopper? --

Good job. Great idea regarding the rubber stopper. I'm currently awaiting a CB antenna mount like that to come UPS and I'll definitely find your info useful.

FYI, you can run the coax into the Jeep behind the light assembly, thus keeping it from the potential damage of being in the door jam area.

X2. I cut a small slit in the plastic liner behind the taillight and popped the trim off the inside of the trunk just far enough to fish the wire through and down to the rear passenger floor trim. No wires exposed and no drilling (except for the screws into the frame concealed by the liftgate).

Looks just like the one I got from Walcott CB. It's a Firestik Stainless model 204:
http://www.firestik.com/Catalog/SS-204.htm

Lots of folks here have used the same one with good results. it's a nice piece and the hardware that comes with it is either stainless, or all except one little washer that is replaceable from your local home depot.
