same strobe package used for headlights should work for the backup lights you'd just have to tie them in
and yeah using them on the road and not being an emergency vehicle would proooobably not be a good idea
but as for a "trick" sure why not

How do the cop cars have their backup light flash like they do... (charger cops) I know it is probably illegal, but would be really cool to do. |

The older ones have a central control box that controls what lights are one, what lights flash, etc in conjunction with a user switch panel. The newer ones with al the LEDs probably use the same similar thing. Probably use a small on board computer to control it all. I saw the wiring that controlled our ambulance lights... nightmare to me. You can buy small control boxes thourgh emergency supply places, volunteer firefighters/emts use emergency lights all the time.... you could use it offroad I guess for the WOW factor |

Its called a traffic backer. I have one on my Jeep. its cheap and effective as hell. It flashes the backup lights to the break lights. |

Our service trucks that make roadside repairs flash just like the cops and city truck lights. I used a system on our trucks called "code 3" and wired in the reverse lights to it. |
