I just finished my Sirius satellite radio install in my 05 Limited. Here's what I did:

First, the easiest part. I'm using the FM BROADCASTER/modulator/whatever it's called to get the sgnal from the Sirius head unit to the the KJ RBQ unit. My Sirius is mounted woth the stock suction cup mount unit mid-dash. I tuned it to a station that has empty (static) stations on either side of it (93.9 in my neighborhood). I haven;t had any problems with the FM modulator, but haven't been on a trip of any length yet. So far, so good.

Next, the ANTENNA. I stuck the magenet near the rear on the roof. (You can find instructions for the following on this site.) Unscrewed the third brake light, pulled out the brake light unit and feed through the antenna wire. Open the rear glass, pull out the plastic vent at the rear of the headliner (3 or 4 snap tabs, just pull where there's resistence), and fished the wire through (wish I had smaller hands).

Once I had the antenna wire fished through, things got easier. I ran the wire to the driver side, tucking it into the rear gate's weather stripping, down to the floor. Then I tucked it under the interior molding and ran it to the front, tucking it under whatever was available. At the dash, I tucked it into the crevices of the fuse panel, under the sterring wheel, and ran it to the head unit, which is directly above the crevice to the left of the center air vents. Tuck slack int the wire (I had about 3 inches) under the steering wheel. Antenna wiring done.

Finally, the power. Buy a cigarette lighter outlet kit from Radio Shack. Go home. Open the fuse panel and identify a fuse that was live only in "On" or "Accessory". Lucky me, first guess, the radio fuse was it (I think it's fuse #25, look in the manual). Put a spade (a small piece of metal that wraps around the post of the fuse) around the fuse, and run the red wire from the new outlet. Find a grounding point (I used a bolt I found by looking under the center console from the driver's side floor) and run the black wire there. You should now have a live cigareete lighter.

I flipped down the dash under the steering wheel (two clips) and used the double-sided tape that came with the cigarette lighter to hold the lighter in place. Plug in the Sirius cigarette lighter adapter, test it out, and zip tie slack in the wires. Power wiring done.

If I didn't miss any steps above, you should have a Sirius sytem mounted in easy reach with only two wires barely visible in the crevice to the left of the center console. I hope this helps anybody wiring IPods, etc., as well.

great write up. Followed it for my 03. Worked well. The 3rd tail light pinches the wire quit a bit though.

The 2005 service manual says fuse 25 is the ABS module and 22, 31, and 32 are switched Run-Acc fuses. Fuse 22 might switch other devices in addition to the radio, so just make sure you don't draw too much power off of it. Nice tutorial Metrowest_Kev.

Sorry I never posted pics. [Insert excuse here.] Glad you could use the write up.

The set up has worked well. No power or reception problems. The suction cup mount unexpectedly falls off the windshield every 3 or 4 months, but otherwise ok.

Great write up! Just to add a pair of needle nose pliers helps grabing the antenna wire thru the brake light. Everything works and sounds awesome!

Has anybody connected a Sirius head unit to the RBQ stereo using anything other than the FM modulator? I just had a rental car with Sirius built-in and the sound qulity was far superior to my Sirius. My KJ's FM and CD player also sound much better than the Sirius. I'm thinking that hard-wiring to the stero instead of using the FM modulator may improve quality. So, anyone?

You can either buy the Mopar Sirius receiver or, if your current receiver has audio outputs, a PIE audio adapter. If you're currently using an external CD changer, you'll need a multiplex splitter as both options use the CD changer port.
