I'm having a tough time tracking down a problem on my 2006 KJ CRD, and could use some suggestions.
This weekend, all of a sudden three separate problems popped up: sunroof not closing right, rear power window not closing, and the tail and brake lights are out. These all happened at the same time, I swear my KJ got hit by lightning or something. I see no reason why the first two are related, they're both mechanical and I applied some workarounds until I get them fixed (duct tape and rubber door stops). The tail light issue is the one that has me puzzled. So here's the problem:
The rear tail AND brake lights are not working, at all (both sides). The center high-mount brake light IS working, and the reverse and turn signals are both working. I've checked all fuses and found no failures, plus the right and left sides are fused separately. I checked out the wiring diagram from the Haynes manual (which says its only good to 2004 model, not sure if anything has changed), and it looks like the tail and brake lights have completely separate circuits and relays, and the brake lights don't use the BCM. I really have no idea what could have caused all four lights to go out at once. Anyone have any ideas short of a very selectively severed wiring harness (not likely, I've only been doing city driving)? Oh, and its 100 degrees and 110 heat index here, so working on this thing is MISERABLE. I need to get those lights back on soon, though, so I'll be legal.
Thanks in advance!
