I have seen before that members have done one or two under the driver and passanger seats. I am thinking about under the rear seats fililng the entire area.

I am not the smartest when it comes to this but have found subwoofers such as free air subwoofers like this one from Kicker

Or a shallow mount or flat mount like those comparable to those made by JL audio

Has anyone had expirence with these types of subwoofers mixed reviews on both types.

not sure if even the flat one would fit if you ever needed to lay the seats down... the flat sub needs an enclosure, and you wouldn't have enough room for an enclosure, especially if you ever needed to lay that seat down.

I think it would work with the KJ. Just gotta relocate/remove the jack. I've actually been planning to do the same thing.

Just to add a quick note... It would be a tight fit & they would actually have to be smaller sized subs but my stereo shop thinks it can be done.

i think it'd fit if you never plan to lay down the back seats. some fiberglassing for the bottom of the box, and yes, i think it should fit under the rear seat. again, no seat lay down. but if you don't need that extra room ever, that is a good place for a sub!

The bottom half of the seat in the KJ doesn't move when you lay it down so I don't anticipate an issue with that. The KK might be another story though.

for the input, a lot of which I was thinking also. Obviously the jack will be removed. and put with the rest of the tools.

I dont see much movement of the seat at all or change in level when its put down.

This is a KJ, and not looking for rattle your read :banghead: bass but more than the mopar sub enough to fill the cabin with some booms...

For the record, the JL Audio TW5 is not comparible with anything else on the market. The patent is called "Concentric Tube Design" and it allows the motor to be installed into the frame "backwards". The voice coil sits outside the magnet rather than the other way around allowing the cone assembly to move nearly the mounting depth of the speaker. Every other shallow mount driver is just a standard design flatened... to keep the speaker from bottoming out, the manufacturers make the suspensions very stiff which is not good for output or linearity.... just sayin'

The TW5 driver is relatively unchanged in the JL Audio home in-wall subwoofer application that retails for $8,000.

Also... the frame design on the TW5 allows multiple driver frames to butt up against each other to maximize output for a given surface area. Two 13TW5 drivers can be mounted in the smaller footprint than three 12" drivers with standard frames... and have more output.

BTW a Free-Air will not work in a opeb cabin like in a KJ or a stationwagon. It needs a trunk to work.

JL audio stealthbox. Takes up minimal room and the thing moves air like crazy for a single 12.
