Aftermarket Bun Warmers

I noticed that you can get aftermarket seat warmers for the JK.. Can that be wired to be used in a Libby? My sciatic nerve is messed up and extreme cold is killing it... Need some bun warmers.. LOL

Larger truck stops will have 12v.electric blankets etc.

ON that note.. I wonder how hard it would be rig up a converter and use a heating pad.... Oh no.. Wheels turning now..

my friends business does this, aftermarket seat heaters. usually around $200 installed. but i know for a fact you can buy the pads online for around $50 that hardwire (via switch) into your vehicle. it's a universal pad in in two sizes, you can trim to the exact size of your seat. you just need to be good at taking apart seat covers and putting them back on, hog rings, etc...

We charge $600 installed but I acknowledge that some people aren't into making a living so it can be found cheaper... especially in areas with high populations of undocumented workers... just sayin' .

I am going my route..

Got permission from the wife to get this item when payday comes around.. The heating pad only uses 45 watts.. But I still like the idea of having a big inverter.. This is going in my JK.. I have a cig lighter inverter that will handle a heating pad..

he does Katzskin interiors too, maybe the $200 is with a leather job, and that $200 is PER SEAT. $600 sounds more like it, and that could be about right if customer is not getting leather too. I've helped him out once or twice, just laying out the pad, etc... he does all the seat recovering, as you know... it's definetely an art. can it be done at home for cheap, sure! but i'd glady pay him to do it right the first time!

I've heard of people using the cheaper heating pad's and hard-wiring them to a switch no problem. It shouldn't hurt the seat at all. The only issue is what was previously mentioned, it can be darn hard to get the seat back 100% together correctly. If you are going to delve into it yourself, I would just get the seat warmer kit from Mopar. The KK one from justforjeeps if 260. When i go through all that work i wanna know I'm not going to have to take the seat apart again for a cheap pad dieing out. Just my :2cents:

i'm sure he'd sell you just the seat heater pad, not sure on price, but it's a good one! dual temps, sizeable pad, etc.
otherwise, i'd give the ebay one a try for the price. i've heard of people just lifting off the front of the seat cover and squishing it up in there... it's harder to get it flat, but less of the seat to take apart. that being said, my friends fixed a few of those from a different local shop that get all bunched up... so you might get lucky and it'll lay flat, or you'll be fixing it in a week when it bunches up! guess it depends how much time you like spending working on front seats! ha.

This would work great and easily moveable. I have this but the version with 2 USB power outlets to charge my cell and GPS at the same time. My mp3 gets charged by the Kenwood receiver's USB.

How much does one of the truckers electric blankets draw? Looks like 50 watts and they have the 12 volt plug so it'll go right to your power outlet/cig lighter.

sometimes i wish i had bum warmers, but having the cloth seats in my kj, i dont get too cold. took out my leather seat covers til it gets warm. needless to say, i was freezing my bum off with them
