For those who bought an incomplete kit too (or got one from a scrapyard), here's what any JEEP dealer can sell youAnd you'll need: 56010417AA SWITCH, Off Road Lamp / still no partnumber on the wiring that goes through the firewall I bought an incomplete kit (thinking I would have the wiring already in the KJ but that seems to be an random thing) but fitting with the Mopar stuff should be the same, the fitting manual is also pretty clear.
Now wouldn't this be a nice place to put it: Rally style, if only I had the later model Renegade flat hood...
Nah, it belongs up here.
Place it at 70mm / 2,8" from the top of the windshield weather strip. Drill a 12,5mm/ 1/2" hole in the front centre of the light bar base first. So you get 7 mounting holes.
I took out the OTIS / A pillar covers and the sun visors to be able to lower the roof upholstery , so if the drill goes in to far it will not drill a hole in the interior
Make sure the bar is centered and mark the holes. Then drill...start with a 3mm / small ?" drill. Then drill to 10mm - 3/8" so the nutsertz fit. Do not forget to dril a 25 mm/ 1" hole for the wiring. (I didn't now since I am still waiting on my wiring kit)
Here's my nutsertz tool, comes with correct size drills. If you get a complete kit Mopar will provide nutsertz and a tool to fit them.
Prime the holes with some good paint, fit the nutsertz.
Before you put the bolts in add some sealant, this to prevent water creeping in through the thread. Do not wrench the bolts, tighten them just little over hand tight. The base plate is not level with the roof so you might deform it if you overtighten. There's also double sided tape already fitted so you can glue the light bar to your roof before fitting the bolts, take the protection of starting at one side working your way to the other side.
This is the best thing ever thought of by the JEEP designers, I love it
. Fit the cover, hand tighten the four locking bolts. (if you have a complete kit: fit the roof wire, then fit the cover)
Boy does it look sweet!
Will update when I get my wiring.
EDIT
Ok so I fitted the wiring today, didn't take any pics since it rained a little and didn't want my camera to get wet. It's pretty easy, just follow the
http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82206126AB.pdfIf you can do IKEA you can do MOPAR.
One tip though, do not try to push a rod through the firewall rubber from the inside. Do it from the outside.
And I didn't like the LED in-dash (mine doesn't have a oem light
), so I fitted it next to the switch.
For the feed it's so easy a kid could do it, one wire connects in the engine bay fuse box ( take a nut of, fit it, put the nut back ) Then there's the ground connection, just behind the baterry, same story.
Then you click two wires in your inside fusebox. As you can see in the pic you need to take the existing fuses ( 10 amps ) out of their sockets and fit them into the light bar plugs.
More pics, I fitted one on a friends JEEP. Luckaly he has a RENEGADE and had the wiring already installed! Try to tape like I did to catch all the bits of metal.
And never mind my ugly old face
