| Post subject: | help finding a switched 12v wire |
Hey guys, first post... had my CRD Sport about a month now. I want to tap into a switched 12v wire so I can hardwire my V1. I've seen a couple of people say that the pink/yellow wire under the steering column works. Well, I saw at least 4 different pink/yellow wires in that general location. I picked one, and painstakingly got the wire tap thing onto it. However, when I plugged it in to test to make sure that wire would work, it didn't. Does anyone have a pic of an appropriate wire to tap into? (The easier it is to access, the better.) Thanks! |

can't help ya on that particularly, i dont have the FSM for your year CRD, i'm pretty good at reading mopar wiring diagrams is a tap-a-fuse from painless out of the question? I've been using one on mine for a constant tap for my SSB since about a month after getting the jeep, blown the fuse a few times putting too high Amp stuff in the power port but .. mini fuses are cheap? if you tell me where an electronic (pdf) of the FSM is for your jeep and tell me what switched accessory you want to tap it to ill see if i can help ya out |

I just need a wire that I can tap that turns off when the key is turned off. I was going to tap the cig lighter wire but then realized that it is always powered. |

pretty easy to slide the stereo hu out if you want to use that feed as an option if you poke through the fab section for electronic wiring and what not you may come across an alternative i personally avoid tapping the vehicle harness itself, they used a gauge too small to begin with imo |

I may use the stereo. Any idea which one of the stereo wires is the correct one? |

should be Orange and Red it'll be very easy once you have the head unit slid out, it'll be a red or an orange and red wire that becomes hot when the switch is on, pretty easy probe with a multi meter or test light |

I used a "add a circuit" from napa and pluged it into the fuse slot for.the HU for my gauges, alot simpler than tracing and splicing IMHO. |
