So i'm looking to install an aftermarket nav/dvd/cd double din head unit and crutchfeild and sonicelectronix state that i need to also get the pac c2r-chy4 harness which is like $70. It seems like this is only needed to retain steering wheel controls and other fancy features that came with the high end kk stereos. I just have the low end factory stereo and no steering wheel controls or uconnect or anything. Here is a picture or the back of my factory stereo of it helps Image

i know that harness is required if you have the stock "amplified" stereo system. Not sure if non-amplified KKs need it.

The steering wheel controls is a completely different, additional, adapter

Yeah after looking in to it more i saw the swi type connector for the steering wheel. I know the big harness on the back of the stock unit is speakers and probably power. Another small one is the antenna, so anyone know what the third small one is?

Per the picture, the 2nd wire from the top looks like a satellite radio antenna wire. Do you have Sirius radio available for as a option on your factory radio? If your radio has that option, then that is what the wire belongs to.

Yeah i have sirius sat radio too, just unsubscribed. So there is an am/fm antenna wire and a sat radio wire? I only have one exterior antenna mounted.

If your new radio doesn't have satellite radio just put the wire in the dash for future use (the one with the yellow connector). You may need an antenna adapter for your am/fm radio antenna wire (white plug) since it seems they have the smaller plugs. Not sure about yours since I have an 02 and mine has the smaller plug. Not sure what the thinking was for the smaller plug, just seems like they did that to make a few extra bucks.

Update on this:
The cheap harness works fine for replacing the low end stereo. You just need to splice the accessory wire into the cigarette lighter plug so the new stereo comes on when the key is turned.
