I recently (and finally...) mounted my set of KC Hilite Fog Slim Lite. see my thread if you dont beleive me ... viewtopic.php?f=6&t=64215 I do not know where to earth the switch in the dash board...too many wires, too many colors... I mounted the switch next to the Low Beam scrolling wheel, lower right hand side on the driving wheel. I tried to attach the brown earth wire to the steering metal parts, but doesnt seem to good... The small diode on the switch does not lighten-up when the fog lights are on, is it because the switch is not earthed ? thanks ! |

Check the instructions (?) for your switch, or the pin out diagram (should be on the side of the switch). Sounds to me like you have your wires in the wrong place. Three (3) pins (tabs) on the switch, usually have one for the load (lights), one for 12 volts (LED), and one for ground. If the lights work, but the switch LED doesn't light, you may not have a 12 volt switch. If your switch is say 120 volt as oppose to 12 volts, the LED will be very dim, if it lights at all. |

thanks Brad, i will check the voltage of the switch, but i would be surprised it is not a 12volts switch as it came with the KC lights package. anyway, i will check. The Light works great, very happy with them by the way Also, i have wired the brown earth wire of the switch to the steering metal. If this is not to earth, could it be the reason why the led is not lightening up ? |

If this is not to earth, could it be the reason why the led is not lightening up ? The steering support, although metal, isn't grounded as the sound dampening material is between it & the firewall. There are a couple of screws behind the kick panel that work well, or just tap into the ground lead of the 12 volt socket in the center console. |
