So I made the mistake of purchasing a WJ EVIC module for my '06 liberty with the intention of getting the temperature readout to work. After wiring it up to the BCM I found that the temperature in fact does not readout. So I decided to give my local jeep dealership a call and asked the service department if it would be possible to flash my EVIC module to the newer 2005+ EVIC software. The service rep was not sure if it could be done but he said he would be willing to help me try it. And if it works $68.00 if not $0.00. Well worth it to me.

I read on some other forum that it comes down to the communication between the EVIC and the BCM, which changed after 2004. So I figured that it might be possible flash the older EVIC to the newer software so that the communication for the temperature readout can be understood.

I am trying to go from part# VB419114CUJ to 56010520AE in software.

Has anyone else tried this before? Does anyone here know if it's possible? Am I wasting my time with this?

If this doesn't work I think I'll end up needing one of these:
'04 EVIC: 56010438AC, 56010438AD
'05 EVIC: 56010520AD, 56010527AD
'06 EVIC: 56010520AE

--------
Update: the tech could not get to screen that allowed him to flash the EVIC :(
