I have had the interior "courtesy" and domes replaced with leds for a year or two now.
This is how they used to operate...
close the doors, and hit lock, lights stay on for a couple of seconds then cycle off.
now when i close the doors, and hit lock, they are on but not like they are on. they are just dim.
I know that they are dim when i drive b/c of the low current, but when there is no power to the jeep, i.e. locked up and toggle is off, why are they still glowing?
i have taken out all of the bubs individual to see if that the problem, it's not.

What to do now? Thanks!

I had the same problem. I just pulled them back out and put silver stars in.

its called Afterglow - many LED products are subject to it, can be corrected with resistors and what not, an LED will glow with just a fraction of a milliamp - they'll also glow just from 60hz radiation like if you held it in your hand and stood under a large power line

it isn't enough to drain your battery - that same amount of current is still going to the conventional lightbulbs - the switch is passing a very very small amount of current even in the off position or the current from the dimmer isn't dissipating like it does with a conventional bulb

but like i said, the behavior can be fixed by adding a uf resistor which will equalize the resistance on the circuit back to a conventional bulb level

i knew about the after glow effect, but this is when the jeep is off and doors are locked.

same situation, when you hit the lock button a dimmer switch does it's thing which slowly turns back the power to the lights

so it sounds like the dimmer is trickling a very small amount of miliamps to the lights - with most dimmers or lighted switches theres enough trickle across the circuit to make leds glow - can try adjusting the dash dimmer and seeing if there's a setting on it that causes less trickle

big difference in ignition between a standard and led, with a standard bulb you wouldn't see the symptom

The interior lights are grounded through the BCM on a load sensing circuit. Not enough load and they will stay on a little. Not a LED afterglow effect just the lack of resistance to fully turn them off.

I have the same issue and there just is not a safe place to put a high load resistor without starting a fire as they get pretty darn hot.I just live with it and now doesn't even bother me at all.Besides with a ultra low amp draw and about a 50,000 hour life span there is no need to worry but mine only stay on at very low level when the key is in the ACC or RUN anyways.

I love that they stay on while driving... the problem was that they were on all the time, even when locked up for the night.
For some reason though, it stopped, so I am good 8)

What kind of uf resistor are you talking about.?
