I am looking to install a trailer wiring harness on my Liberty. I am going to use the Mopar kit, 82207248AB.

Do I need the dealer to activate it? One site said "Must use dealer scan tool to activate." http://www.wyckoffchryslerparts.com/scr ... duct=14448

Do I need to activate this in my Jeep?

I looked into installing the factory harnest. Since I didn't have EVIC, I had to buy 2 pieces. I just ended up buying the heavy duty 3 to 2 adapter and running my own wires for brake and power.

KK or KJ? KJ no, you just need to make sure you buy BOTH harnesses for everything to work correctly. I have done this twice in mine now with no need to have anything activated. (e-spec harness to US-spec harness)
