I've had my 02 KJ Renegade for awhile now and I noticed when I got it the front windows switch both say 'auto' but they are anything but that. I have to hold the switch down to get the windows to go down. Nothing I can't deal with, I've lived with it for 2 years now. Just wondering why they won't go down if I hold the switch? Any ideas? Thanks.

Bad contacts in the switch maybe? Never taken apart the one in my Jeep but I have cleaned some in another vehicle and it helped. They had some carbon buildup on them. Or maybe some dirt/lint buildup not allowing the switch to rock all the way back to the auto down.

That's a possibility. I haven't taken them apart yet. I noticed in the owners manual it says for the windows to roll down automatically press switch down past indentation. But there is no indentation. Could be it needs a cleaning.

So I went out and messed with it today. Took the trim part off and low and behold they worked. Put it back together and worked fine. I wonder if I just wasn't pushing hard enough for long enough all this time!? Wow I feel like a dork. :ROTFL:
