Post subject:  help with power outlet

Does anyone have a diagram and part numbers of the parts needed to add a rear power outlet to a 2012 Jet. Wifes asking for it and figured stock won't void the warrenty. I posted in the Electronics section but no awnsers over there.

I don't have a diagram, but this is how I would design it:
Battery + terminal -->
Ring connector -->
In-line fuse holder with 15 or 20 Amp fuse -->
14 gauge wire run though the rubber grommet in the firewall, behind interior paneling to the rear -->
Power outlet + terminal
Then
14 gauge wire from power outlet - to ground (any metal on the Jeep body or optionally run a separate wire back to the - terminal on the battery)

The fuse holder, fuses, 14 gauge wire, ring and splice wire connectors, and the replacement power outlet are available at most auto parts stores. You can get a step bit to drill a round hole in the plastic paneling for the power outlet. The above design makes the power outlet "hot" all the time, even when the Jeep is turned off. This will be very useful when camping or tailgating, but keep in mind to start the vehicle every so often to let it charge the battery. The in-line fuse is extremely necessary-- be sure not to skip that step. Without a fuse, a short circuit or a device that draws too many amps could start a fire in your Jeep.

Best,
LFH
