Today I installed 4 infinity primus speakers to replace the old deteriorating oem ones. I was able to remove the front amps and mount them in the door with minimal work.
The backs were even easier, although they are 6.5 speakers the mounting tabs didn't line up so i had to drill new holes to mount.
After exhausting all reasonable options to make the RBQ work well with an aux in, for the price I choose to upgrade to a kenwood unit.
The dash kit was simple to install, as well as most of the wiring harness, i used a metra harness. However I did run into issues with the switched ignition wire. When plugged in according to the digram I got no power. Eventually I tested with a meter and saw the wire on the oem harness wasnt getting power???
So i just jumped it to the window control switch which is switched as well. It appears after initial testing that the fuse and wiring will handle the load without a problem.
WOW let me tell you, this set up with the pre-amp in the deck as well as the stock infinity amps really makes these sound great!
*****One question though, does anyone know what kind of power the infinity amps put out as far a max power and RMS? Id like to know where im at power wise*******
Infinity speakers -$ 100 a set ($200) Kenwood unit - $169 Dash kit - $15 Wiring harness $15 Antanna adapter $12 I/2 pack of smokes - $3.50 3 Coors lights - free (Thanks Dad) =) = $315.50
All in all very satisfied with the sound, may soon may change the dash tweeters but for now they are ok, the bass is tight and responsive, not looking to add a sub b.c i use my hatch and like the space to much to sacrifice any.
