-Two Sundown SA-12's (conservatively rated at 600 RMS each, will easily take more than that. i have them at 1000 RMS each)
-SAZ-2000D (2000 watts at 1 ohm)
-ported enclosure tuned to 31.5hz
-1/0 gauge wiring all around
-Big 3 upgrade with 1/0

I can't imagine taking up the whole rear to get some bass.
Check out: http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/autotuba.html
and google/youtube BFM autotuba
Unbelievable bass from a folded horn.
But I can't even justify loosing that much space.

iOS apps are awful for metering SPL, regardless of what you hook it up to. if you're going to be metering, use a TermLab. this setup did a 143.6 sealed at the glass and a 145.3 at the kick. my 18 prior to this one did a 145.6 sealed at the glass and a 147.0 at the kick.

well when i play music i want to hear more than just the bass, then watch crap move around in my car or stage i work with real sound systems i dont do sound drag racing for the work that i do is real sound for concerts for metering i use an app called audio tools with an iAudioInterface2

Image

with a Audix TM1 Test and Measurement Mic

i have been running this setup for a few months now and it works great

I have mixed for artistes like skillet, pillar, toby mac, oc supertones, and jeremy camp, just to name a few. it takes real talent to mix 16+ channels of audio any yahoo can play sweeps from a tone generator and try not to fry there amps and blow there woofers

Nice setup, I bet those things get loud. Im running an e10 in 1.55 net@33ish on 350watts. It got my feet wet into the world of non mainstream higher quality brands. Im actually removing the amp and sub and will be running 2 sa-8v2's on 1100w@1ohm from my brx1100.1, which should be a nice upgrade. My box is .65 cubes each(net) with a shared chamber tuned to 32hz. The 8 bug bit me. I also have cdt comps, hifonics 4 channel, and alpine rear door coaxials. I was going to go with an sa-12, but I needed to minimize loss of storage, while increasing output.

whoa getting defensive over there?

you're obviously ignorant to the hobby. sweeps? do you really think that i just drive around listening to sweeps? my mids and highs keep up fine with my current two 18's getting about 4,000 watts to the pair. it's called having balance. you've probably listened to people who 'went to crutchfield' and got the 'bass package' and never touched their doors once. just went to some installer who overcharged them and said "here ya go now you have bass" and they walked out with their two Kicker's (LOL) thinking they were the best and loudest in their town... not to mention that prefabricated enclosures have a bandwith of maybe 15hz at most and are usually tuned in the mid 40's.

i can play any kind of music in my car and i have a lot of flexibility for my sound. especially when it comes to having a 32 band EQ, time alignment, positioning, etc... it also is a huge help having an LC-1 to increase/decrease RCA signal to the sub amp, as opposed to using a gain knob that's constantly adjusting your gain, and don't even get me started on bass knobs.

using an iOS sound meter is like using the iOS weight scale apps.... it's just not accurate. and if it is so accurate, explain to me how people are doing 170db with two 15's from those apps? they just don't work.

will be a nice upgrade. i ran four SA-8 v1.5's on a SAX-2500... didn't meter so well in the liberty, i think only a 140.2 sealed if i remember correctly. i ran them with two Neo Pro 6.5's in my front doors with Incriminator Audio tweeters. those 8's were one of the best sounding setups i've had. one 12 will only be a tad more bit of cone area than two 8's... about 15 sq. inches. and when it comes to output without having a lot of power, you're gonna want cone area. make sure you put that SA12 in about 1.5 cubes net if you're gonna be giving it the full power of that 1100.1 and tune around 35... or if you like them lower lows tune around 30 :grim:

I ended up running an AB XD 8 in .97cuft@33.07hz on a PPI
P1000.1@2ohms. I had a chance to get on the meter the other day and did a 130.9@37hz on tone. I was pretty darn happy with it. Its a doo doo ton louder than my old e 10 in 1.65@35 on 350w
