Hey guys, I opened up my rear drivers-side door panel to install new speakers and just wanted to make sure I don't reverse the polarity. Does anyone have a factory diagram for the speaker wiring? I tried installdr but those colors listed don't match my wires. My wires are a grey with green stripe and green with grey stripe. I am guessing the grey wire is ground but wanted to be sure.

I got a smoking deal on these JBL's and wanted to get them hooked up and rockin.

i replaced the speakers in my 05 sport, no reverse polarity to my knowledge. if i recall there were two of the same color wires and one with a black line for negative...someone else can chime in here. If I can find the install instructions from Jc whitney where I purchased my polk audio speakers will scan it and post it up!

As a side note, I tried working with the factory deck and just replacing the speakers. After that didn't satisfy me, adding an aftermarket jvc with blue tooth and handsfree phone integration was such a vast improvement for the sound and functionality.

Yeah I have a feeling I'll go down that same road, but I wanted to try just the speakers fest dice I'd do them anyway.

My front doors are both green one with a black stripe. But the backs were weird, it was green with a grey stripe and grey with a green stripe. If the instructions have the factory colors it would be greatly appreciated.

Just figured out how too mount my tweeter in the front (use the cage from the old tweeter)!

The FSM wiring diagram and speaker polarity will come close to sending you over the edge as it nearly did me. See my post at viewtopic.php?f=45&t=73768 regarding replacement of the premium system speakers.

If you don't have the premium speakers I suspect the Metra electronics harness model 72-6514 (Best Buy SKU 7994771 or cheaper on Amazon) will still work for your rear speakers. It plugs straight into your existing harness and has quick disconnect fittings that plug into the standard (as marked on the new speakers) + large male terminal and - small male terminal. That harness may also work for the standard front speakers.

Thanks for the info, I do have the base stereo. I ended up adding the blade sockets myself, and the wires were reversed in the back. The gray with green stripe ended up being the positive wire, while the green with gray stripe was the negative (at least to my ears, bass was much more apparent with them that way).

Pretty happy with the newfound clarity, but I did lose some bass, thinking about looking for a factory sub setup. I'm not a huge bass head and I don't want to lose any of the already limited cargo space. I'm satisfied with the small factory sub in in my Mazdaspeed 6, so I think the little factory setup should work fine for me. Anyone change their mind on this setup and want to recoup some of their $$?
