So i picked up a Pioneer Z110bt on ebay and attacked the install. I don't have install pics but there are a few previous threads to use as reference. You have to remove the stock radio support inside the dash and then cut out a few pieces of plastic. After fabricating the brackets and mounting the radio, it was time to measure and cut the bezel. This project is next to impossible without a dremel. I need to do some minor adjustments in my brackets to bring the unit up and forward so it sits properly. Then i have to add two more filler pieces to the left and the right. Finally its getting bondo, sanded, and painted. This install was not easy, but its worth every minute. Full size navi, watch movies, built in bluetooth for phone calls, streaming pandora over bluetooth from my phone, full ipod control, this blows the stock units away. I cant believe the factory got away with charging people almost 2k for that option. Even back in 05 when they built them, the double din aftermarket options were worlds ahead of the stock technology. Im just surprised there are no aftermarket double din kits for these trucks.

There might not be any double-din kits because this dash wasn't designed with a double-din in mind. Just Chrysler's 1.5 idiot size. The problem with double din in a Chrysler is what you discovered: Its difficult to fit, and I'm sorry to say this... Looks like asss. Not because of your hard work in cutting and fitting the bezel, that is actually quite impressive. No, because of the sharp corners that highlight now how this doesn't fit with the rest of the vehicle.

A single-din pop-out screen model would have worked much better in that space.

I think it will fit in much better once it is all finished and painted one color.

I'm thinking about doing the same to my WJ.

When its all painted up it will look much better. No matter how much you spend, the pop out screen single din units look cheep. It would also cover most of the vents.

Definitely looks much better painted. I think that set-up looks way better than a slide out single din. Plus, like you mention, the fact that they cover the vents was one fo the big factors in stopping me from getting one.

I have single DIN pop out, sure it covers some of the center vents but nothing major.Plus it moves the screen up alot further so your not as distracted when you look at the screen.

Ok, painted up, that does look better. I'm still not crazy about the size in comparison to the rest of the bezel, but it doesn't stand out as badly as the first image did.

Thats looks like it was a lot of hard work, you did a good job in blending the edges of the plastic where there is filler so they don't show. Nice.

That is actually a reference photo from a previous install:

I have not finished mine yet. This weekend i installed new speakers all around and eliminated the factory speaker-mounted amplifiers. I hope to finish this all off by the end of the year.

If i ever want to sell the jeep and return it to stock, im pretty sure someone who wants to do the project would trade the factory bezel for the already modified one to save all that work.

I would've made a duplicate from fiberglass then I would have to worry about cracking or putting it back to stock.
