Hey guys and gals, throw out some suggestions for ROTM themes for next year. Right now I'm working off the same list as last year but think we could do with some fresh ideas. Here is the list as it stands now. Items in Red will stay where they are, items in Blue will most likely stay (although they could be moved to different months), and items in plain ol' black can either stay or be replaced:

January: Snow
February: Flex
March: Mud
April: Water
May: Trees/Forest
June: Jeepin` with your Pet
July: Patriotic
August: Beachin`
September: Me and My Jeep
October : Halloween
November : Fall Foliage
December : Xmas/Holiday Theme

So for instance, we might replace the 'Water' theme with 'rock-crawling', or 'Trees' with a 'Carnage' theme. Let's hear your ideas :)

If you are asking...

Mountain Theme; bonus points for highest elevation

Desert Theme; bonus points for lowest elevation / driest day

In / Under Water Theme. Mud counts as thick water.

Most Mud in the Mall Parking Lot Theme; bonus points for pictures of suprised shoppers looking at your Jeep, extra bonus points for dropped groceries - theirs, not yours. Super bonus points if you got your significant other to wash your jeep and you were brave (crazy) enough to post the pictures here.

Best Stuck / Imperssive Damage Theme; bonus points each time you are on the wrong end of the recovery strap, extra bonus points if you did this by yourself and were brave enough to post about it here, super bonus points for being on the wrong end of the tow truck. If you had to walk out, we can discuss a mileage bonus.

Mud Theme; Bonus points for not being able to identify the colour, extra bonus points for not being able to identify the model / year, super bonus points for not being able to identify the type of vehicle. If you get the super bonus points, you would also be an automatic entry in the Best Stuck / Impressive Damage Theme, if you can find your Jeep.

Only ones I think I'd change would be May: Trees/Forest and maybe October: Halloween

We already do November with Fall Foliage, which tend to be some of the best shots of the year. And Halloween just doesn't seem to do it for me for a theme. Not for jeeps anyway, just doesn't quite fit.

I say do a best miscellaneous shot in October and a best Spring shot in May.

The October shots could be digitally enhanced, only that month of course, and I am sure we'd get some pretty amazing shots to choose from.
The May shots would have to have things that remind us of Spring. Wild flowers, green in general... stuff like that, and that way would kind of keep with Forest/Trees theme from before.

Just my 2 cents. :?

What about a month for "Loaded Down." Pictures of Jeeps heading out loaded down with gear for the long trip. I guess having a large towed load attached could apply to that as well (shrug). Just a thought.

So a 'Best Recovery' theme? With the H2 strapped to your rear bumper? :P

This would be my list if I had to choose each month:

January: Snow
February: Flex
March: Mud
April: Best Urban/Mall Crawl - practicing off road skills in an urban environment.
May: Spring/Green Outdoors - show off some good looking scenery pics in the Spring
June: Jeepin` with your Pet
July: Patriotic
August: Beachin`
September: Me and My Jeep
October : Carnage/Recovery Situations - either you messed yourself up and got stuck and/or broke something or someone else did and you were the solution.
November : Fall Foliage
December : Xmas/Holiday Theme

Doesn't the thought of breaking your KJ or getting really stuck in your KJ scare you enough?

Snow and beachin' are racisit against people who live in places where is doesn't snow and isn't on the coast. :D

Outside of the themes (whatever they are) I think it would be a nice touch to do what Jeep Talk does on their forums. What they do (there are no themes) is the winner's pic is posted up where the L.O.S.T. KJ logo is now for the whole month. Basically the winner is displayed for everyone to see no matter what part of the forum they are on.
It would probably get some more participation going as well because everyone wants to be a rock star.

I like the idea of mountain and desert. Maybe combine them into the same month. Highest and lowest elevations could get pretty fun. That could be an optional component.

That's my Image

Here's my 2 cents

Also think the 'Rockstar' idea would get more participants.

OK, so it looks like folks are interested in a 'Recovery' theme and a 'Carnage' theme, how about combining them in one them and title it 'Oops' (mostly because I don't think I can get away with a '**** Happens' title :P) We could do that for October since that kind of stuff is a bit scary sometimes (especially when you're in the middle of it   ). So what we could look at is:

January: Snow
February: Flex
March: Mud
April: (open)
May: Spring/Green Outdoors - (pretty much what we have now with Forest/Trees)
June: Jeepin` with your Pet
July: Patriotic
August: Beachin`
September: Me and My Jeep
October : Oops - situations you REALLY didn't want to happen
November : Fall Foliage
December : Xmas/Holiday Theme

ThunderbirdJunkie wrote:

Right now February is 'Flex' and as far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter if it's on the trail or in the parking lot - Flex happens! 8)

And as far as the 'Rockstar' idea goes, it's a nice idea but I'd hold off thinking about it until we get the rest of the bugs worked out of the system. Besides I think I've tipped enough windmills this year... ;)

I'll be glad to lend my feeble support to the "rock star" idea. I like it.

And to fill april, how about a Jeep Life theme? Any shot of you and your jeep camping, geocaching, hunting (no kill shots), towing stuff, trail runs with your jeep clearly visible, project vehicles, biking, kayaking etc... As long as your jeep is clearly in the frame.
