How the hell do I get the darn thing off... I know I have to remove the oil cap first but when i try and pry the engine cover off it just won't budge... (no im not a weakling but i don't want to break anything either.)

There are 4 rubber grommet type things that mate the plastic cover to the top of the engine. Just pull up slow, but with lots of force, at a front corner, then another corner, and so forth. Most likely the rubber things will be stuck to the pegs on the engine and you'll have to pull them off and reinsert them into the plastic cover. You'll see once you get it off.

Nothing, YANK it off.

After you get it off I put a little Vaseline on the rubber grommets it makes it come off easier next time good luck.

If you yank it too hard, you'll break the plastic retainers in the cover itself and then the thing will not stay on - happened on one of the four mounting points on my cover.

Try pulling it up one corner at a time rather than the whole thing at once. Maybe that will help. It will come off.

Like the others said, YANK it. The first time I tried to take it off I thought I was going to break something. But didn't.
