Another Response this one from Dynomax (makes the muffler):

Thank you for your inquiry for Dynomax Exhaust. We appreciate your
interest in our products. In regards to your Jeep Liberty, a glass pack is
nothing more than a higher flowing muffler and will not effect the EGR
valve. The EGR valve is designed to heat the exhaust system faster, and
the higher flowing muffler at the end the end of the system should not
effect this.

Jeep may have some type of factory warranty in regards to after market
parts, but the glass pack would not effect the function of this part.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our tech
line at the number below.

I'm not sure I agree with their statement of what the egr is supposed to do. It definitely was not invented to heat the exhaust system faster... :-)

I don't think anyone knows what the EGR really does. It's a mysterious, paranormal, voodoo accessory used to convince EPA bureaucrats to pass the CRD's emissions tests. I think this was accomplished by rapidly spinning the EGR as an aid for hypnosis.

Got my 4th EGR valve installed today at 26,271 miles. On the invoice is a note stating "Noticed during exhaust inspection that vehicle has had a high flow exhaust pipe in place of muffler. Rec. replacing with factory unit because the EGR system is calibrated for a certain backpressure and a highflow exhaust reduces backpressure and may cause problems with EGR flow" :?

Is it me or is this total BS? I have had 4 EGR related problems. 2 with the stock and 2 with the Glass Pack.

first off do you ever put a diesel fuel treatment in your fuel? if you don't you should!

my engine light came on, so i went to have it scanned, they said it was my egr valve. they were on back order so i had to wait. the next time i fueled up,with the engine running, i added the stp diesel fuel treatment,(its a blue bottle treats up to 35gallons) anyways while i was fueling i heard the tone of the exhaust change, when i got back in my car my check engine light was off and it hasn't come on since. no, it is not your exhaust i have a high flow also and it is fine.

The service folks told me this week after LBJ recall that if it comes in for another EGR that DC will come in and look at my CRD.

Also it falls into North Carolina's Lemon law now and after one more failure it will fall under Virginia's. I mention both because I bought it in North Carolina and I live in Virginia.

One more and I'm going to seek Legal Advise.

Well got into it again with the parts changer today. He stated that the muffler was the problem and I showed him the e-mails and he just blew them off like he knew more that VM does. So Its off to the Lemon Law Attorney. I love the motor but its the crap that DCX put around it that makes me wonder.

You changed it back to the glass pack muffler and now you have a CEL?
