So I have symptom that I have not read about or felt so far. I just got it back from the dealer last night after they had it for the third time for air getting into the fuel system and to replace the rear main that was leaking. I drove it 15 mile to work this morning and then parked it until I left it until I started driving home tonight. I drove about 8 miles and the Jeep started to buck, not the shudder we have all felt before, but hard bucking where I thought the thing was going to shake apart. It would then stop for a half a mile and start again.

Any one have this symptom? It is a the dealer again, with out a car again!!

On the good side I found a low mileage XJ that I am going to buy next week and start to build up.

Try again, you are still getting air in the fuel. What did they do to repair it the first time?

Before you take it back, try a simple test. With the engine off, unplug the two electrical connectors from the top of the fuel filter assembly and pressurize the filter by pumping the primer until it becomes hard to push. Look carefully around the electrical connectors for air bubbles escaping or fuel leaking.

I tried what you recommended before I took it in the first time. There does not appear to leak at those connections. The did replace the water in fuel sensor on the bottom of the filter that appeared to have fuel coming through it.

You don't even need to unplug the sensors...just pump the primer about 5-6 times and watch for bubbles for about 30 seconds.

They just called and said it threw a code, something about a crank sensor. They are going to replace that and see what happens next.
