2006 CRD 6- speed???

Has anyone heard if Jeep is going to match up the 6speed tranny with the CRD? I made the mistake of getting the Renegade w/ the autoshifter and the cost of gas is making me look into trading up...

went looking at european site and the manufactor of the crd diesel,they already have the 6 speed with the diesel over there ,the motor made by vm motori .they have a interesting website

Jeep's website has been updated with the new info on '06 Lib's. Sorry to report it only shows the five speed auto with the CRD.

I wanted the 6-speed REALLY bad. Dealer told me there was a rumor that it might be available for '06. So I was going to wait for it. But after doing research, and after calling Jeep customer service myself, I learned that there will be NO 6-speed/diesel combo in the Liberty for the U.S. until at least 2007. So I went ahead and bought the diesel/5-speed auto. combo. It's actually not bad. It does have it's advantages I must say. My wife's 3.7L V6/auto Libby is averaging 16 mpg. I'm averaging about 23. That's a HUGE difference if you drive the Jeep everyday.
