I haven't had the pump cut off yet. But the other day I had a landscaper try to start a fight with me. When I pulled up to the only pump out of 12 that also had diesel. I guess he was in a hurry and thought his F350 was more important. He was a bit suprised when the green hose went into my tank.

Little off topic but related...
I once pulled into a gas station that I frequently visited w/my motorcycle.
I had just woken up and didn't realize they remodeled the station. At least not until the attendant said, "Hey, you just filled your bike with diesel!"

We had to get a hose and siphon it all out int a gas can then refill it. Luckily they didn't charge me for the diesel and the little bit that was left didn't hurt anything.

Friend of mine did the opposite to his bosses old mercedes - filled the diesel tank with about 5 gallons of regular b4 he realized it. Filled the rest w/diesel and didn't say anything!

Sounds like North-Carolina is the place to pump diesel.

I can't imagine a state where you have to have an attendant pump your fuel

Having the large nozzle inlet thingy is great but the flow is too great and the pump handle keeps kicking off.

When it is set on the first lever a fill-up is real quick. :D

Luck,

TP

Where abouts in NC do you live?

I could see them shutting off the pump the 1st time, and maybe even the 2nd time. But after that, it would be time for my to give an ear ful.

Ahh all you people with the diesels are lucky. If only i could own one. Perhaps one of these days.........

Haven't had the pump turned off yet. First time I filled up, there was no one else pulled into the station at the time. Two days ago when i topped up in anticipation of Rita's effect on local prices, it was a different story.

On the opposite side of the pump there was a guy filling up one of the county landfill trucks, and pulled into the pump behind me was an older couple in a Grand Cherokee. I did get some odd looks, but no comments, from the 3 of them.

I'll give the guy in the Cherokee credit. At first he looked at me strange, then looked at the back of my Liberty, and you could see the look of realization dawn on his face when he saw the "CRD" badge on the tailgate.

New Jersey and Oregon only two states that outlaw self serve.

I understood that by having attendant that drive offs (nozzle still in tank filler) would be reduced and the environment saved.

Actual statistics showed drive offs in NJ greater than neighbor PA because attendant would collect payment prior to pump shutting off (or it would be deducted out of his pay).

Drivers thought fuel delivery was finished and would drive off.
