The discussion has gotten very far afield from my original question regarding mpg vs mileage, but that is ok.

I would suggest, that if all you are whining about is the a/c compressor coming on then the vehicle must be pretty good in most respects. Its like the old story about the mother of the bride who can find nothing to complain about for the groom so she says "the bride is too beautiful"

Good point VTDog. I played with my EVIC yesterday and watched the fuel mileage change in different driving situations. I didn't get enough room to test the 70+MPH concept. But the best figure I saw was 34MPG while doing 32MPH with OD on. This was the best figure I saw with the pedal depressed. Coasting up to a traffic light saw figures like 64MPG and it'll even say 99MPG when you first reset it.

So, 34MPG at 32MPH taching around 1200 (feather touch on the fuel pedal). Hit OD/off and the MPG went down to about 24MPG at the same speed.

I'll try to test some 70MPH figures today.

here in flat FL if I set the CC at 1900 rpm (64 mph) I get around 28-29 mpg by the time I exit and park and cool the turbo. It goes up to about 30-31 while at a constant 1900 on the highway. hope this helps.

darn you guys with your EVIC's :) If I wanted the EVIC, is going to the dealer the best route? I imagine its pretty expensive. Also is the wiring already there?

I hardly ever see these on ebay, and If I do its older ones that dont work with all the function, I'm pretty sure I need a 2004 and newer, and I also would need one with sunroof control which makes it even harder to find.

We have a 2006 CRD if it matters.

I just used cetane additive for the first time and so far my mileage is looking like it might be quite a big improvement from my last reading of 11.4 city driving. Does anyone know what the cetane numbers should be for the CRD?

Thanks

I believe I read on the VM Motori site sometime last year that it was designed for 50 cetane fuel that most of Europe uses. The fuel I buy is listed as 49 C B10 and I usually add about 8 to 10 oz of PS white bottle in winter and gray in summer. However I am thinking about switching to Primrose when my stash of PS runs out in the spring.
