Yeh its a 2002 2.5 crd with a manual 5. speed transmisdion, ive blocked the egr as adviced? would it be worth actually blanking it at the manifold? The faults on the truck ate low fuel pressure..which has been present for ages and multifunction switch?
If you have not already downloaded the special section of the Service Manual that applies to the 2.5/2.8 Export CRDS then do so here...download the section 2.5_2.8 Export Diesel. This tells you all about the engine side of our 2.5/2.8 CRDs which is different to the later models with a variable-vane turbo.
http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJHave you disabled the EGR by blocking off the one small pipe on the EGR solenoid next to the battery?
Unfortunately while this method does work...I have this on mine....it could be a problem if your EGR happens to be jammed in the open position or half-open position.
Try get some codes....the "key" method definitely works on the 2002 Export CRD.
Turn the ignition key ON/OFF rapidly 4 times without starting the engine.
On the 4th time leave the ignition ON and the odometer should display error codes in sequence...old ones first and latest one last. It takes a bit of practice getting this ON/OFF function to work correctly...sometimes it needs 5 ON/OFF sequences.
The last codes are the only ones you are interested in....be aware that this method sometimes transposes the last two digits so that code P1052 for example may actually mean P1025. This method does not clear codes.
You sure you are pulling off the MAP sensor and not the fuel rail pressure sensor?...they are next to each other.
Is the MAP sensor clean? Do not touch it but clean carefully with Carb Cleaner spray.
