This may have already been covered, but when was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

When mine gets restricted, I get a code for injector issue and fuel leak detected. What is happening is that the system knows how much pressure *should* be there, and the system reads the insufficient pressure (delivery volume) of fuel as low, there *must* be a leak.

In reality, the supply is restricted, so the darn thing freaks out.

Did you get it figured out?
I'd love an update as my 2006 CRD which had been sitting for nearly 4 weeks, then I drove it for 4 days, died at idle 3 different times (if it caught at all), then the tow truck driver was able to get it running and revved it...seemed to run fine. He also showed me how to get the codes to show up.

Not knowing the root of the problem, I decided to have him tow it to a local mech who works on diesels and Jeeps. It needs some work to pass inspection and so I thought it was just time. The diesel mech came back with a bad injector (190k on the jeep, with original injectors), so reading your thread has me very curious about the end results!

To Everyone:
I'm learning the skills of navigating on this members site, and I haven't found the answer to my original reason for coming here, so here's my other query: The Mech wanted to order $900 injector from Jeep to assure correct fit and reliable part. I could find a Bosch on-line (new) for a bit over $300. Could you all recommend an aftermarket part supplier who can deliver a reliable injector for less than $900? ...and any key details to be sure I'm getting the right part? I was going to go with Bosch diesel fuel injector as it's a Bosch system...but am open to 5-star aftermarket recommendations/referrals.

Also, in December-ish it started to drop mpg substantially (on set of frigid temps). With warmer temps, the mileage is increasing. Is it bad diesel? Frigid temps for a FL jeep? I will also continue to look through threads...just thought I'd ask to get going in a productive direction faster... :)

Thanks!!

Maggie,

I would suggest starting a new thread for your Jeep and its issues.
At 190K miles we would have a lot of questions to ask of you and would need a complete service/repair history to offer you the best advice.
A bad injector is certainly possible, but there are a whole bunch of other things I would want to rule out before spending money on a injector.
If you havent already, search for previous posts about "air in fuel" and "upgraded fuel filter head."

Thank you for the suggestion, Flash.
I'm sure you'll have questions I won't know the answer to about the car's history!
I'll repost and get started...
Reading the other threads, I saw there were questions for the mechanic even without the air questions you mentioned.
I'll go find those threads and read up.

Thank you for the re-direct!

FFS. Yet another example of a dealer not being able to properly diagnose what day of the week it is.

PM sent, please call me anytime.
