My CRD is back in the shop, second time the transmision shift soleinoid pack is being replaced.(7.3k and now 20 k) The symptoms were slow engagement and erratic shifting. At one point wouldn't shift past 2nd or 3rd and the check engine light came on. The key trick didn't work so i didn't get the code.. The dealer so far refuses to do the service bullletin for the wrong filters even thought the transmission was built in in window specified. I am thinking maybe the solenoid packs are a symptom of the service bulletin problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

The transmission is the last thing I expected trouble from as it has been rock solid in the early 02's (before they changed to to the lighter duty trans) and not too many people with Dodge trucks have been having transmission issues. One of the reasons for getting the CRD vs gas was the fact it had the heavier duty transmission.

They are replacing the selenoid pack and changing the filters, so I feel pretty comfortable that my transmission woes are over and it will be rock solid.

Hope things will get better! For me too the choice was heavily geared (pun intended) toward the HD transmission....

Mine has been acting very stupid at times, especially when hot. Sometimes won't back up-hill, sometimes downshifts into nothing then slams into gear, and frequently at @ 30-35 mph will lurch hard enough on the upshift or TC lock-up to rock me in the seat. No CEL, no codes, no service from the dealer. Dealer also refuses to do the transmission TSB's.

I think this TSB should have been a recall, They are shooting themselves in the foot. This would only apply to those with the build dates specified. Since this covers Dodge trucks also they have the potential of have to replace a lot of torque converters that end up damaged due to the wrong filters. Not to mention the loss of customer satisfaction that can effect ones choice when purchasing their next vehicle.

When my dealer called the Star support center they were advised to do the TSB so maybe you need to verify your build date and then cal DC directly or try another dealer.
