Yeah I had one of those years ago in 1975...my first 4X4. Fitted free-wheel hubs up front but no other changes other than fitting seat belts which were not standard in those days!

Mine had the old petrol side-valve engine though.....no power and chewed gas.
In those days owners were replacing the engine with 3.8 or 4.0 L six cylinder Chev engines...more power and better fuel economy.

Never really got to use it much so sold it.
At least in those days you could fix most problems with some spanners, screwdrivers, a large hammer, duct tape and fencing wire, no electronic Gremlins to deal with!

I’ve been seeing a few of these in my area that have been imported as “antiques.” It’s funny that a mid 90’s Defender is antique.

And I looked on Autotrader, they are super pricey for a vehicle of this age.
Seen none for less than 40k and some for over 100k for 90's models.

Very Very few were sold in north america, and for only a few years. These are called North America Spec, or NAS, these always bring a premium since they are 50 state legal without issue and easier to insure. There were 500 Defender 110(4 door) in 93 sold, and then from then on it was 2 door Defender 90 until 97. None were diesel. All were gasser V8, some were auto, some manual.

This one sold today:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1989- ... one-ten-9/

Good examples are very very expensive, and for the most part no one bothers to import bad examples. Excellent restored examples are 100k vehicles.

Its not.

And even the aluminum parts have some serious issues with galvanic corrosion.
