I'm laughing, but through a mist only because three days ago my exhaust guy warned me (en Espanol) "You should be careful; that bungee isn't strong enough to keep your hood down!" And I planned to restore the original setup...
But first, I just HAD to confirm that my new turbo could do 30-60 in <3 seconds:

Cute Dimples!

Tweeked mounting-brackets, but wrenchable:

Hydraulic-piston ends snapped-off! $45/pair new...
Image

Let's not forget to restore that right-side ground!
Image

The fun never ends...
- Windshield survived; the wiper-arms absorb the flex without damage.
- Hood Closes/locks normally, post-stupidity.

Highly entertaining for the traffic behind me who watched me punch-it only to have my hood flip-up! I deserved each and every single-digit salute (kidding; Mexicans are polite).

Actually, given that I plan to (eventually) route my snorkel through the Right-Rear hood, not a catastrophe.

Besides, it's a JEEP !!!
Mine craved more damage...

And now you know what gets destroyed if your Libby's hood flips-up at 60mph. You're Welcome
Aloha

So what we all really need to know is did it make 30-60 in less than 3 seconds?

:-)r Yup, under 3 seconds!!!
However, 60-0 was FAR more entertaining!

Fortunately, I was on 2+2 lane divided road and had my window already rolled-down to switch to IFR from VFR.
Again, I had blazed-ahead of traffic so I had a bit of a buffer to orient myself and pull-over. But no shoulder (the norm in Mexico) so parked in the right lane for the <30 seconds required to hop out, pull my belt off as a temp hood-strap, and sulk away...

Given how hard the drivers behind me were laughing it's amazing there wasn't a major pile-up :SOMBRERO:

One lesson: when open, the (new) 1-din pioneer 3500avh flip-screen obstructs access to the hazard button, so that was another fun mid-air challenge.

Stupid is as stupid does. Nobody got hurt = no big.
The corners of the now-custom hood look like Spock's eyebrows. Very expensive mod due to royalties @ Desilu:

I quick-sprayed a few coats of primer & paint to protect the recently-naked steel. Actually, the off-the-shelf green from Azone is a tolerably close match to the stock jeep-green, PN#BTY1597. By "tolerable" I mean better than nothing...

Don't feel like the lone ranger. I forgot the side latches on my CJ7 and it jiggled past the safety catch; same with my '78 Ford pickup which was fine for the long drive to work, but not back. Also did it once with an old-school Fiat 500.

Now I leave hoods all the way open or all the way latched. I'm less blond now that I've gone bald.

Aww man! I'm glad no one was hurt! It's never happened to me but did to a guy I know, 65mph+ down the interstate. Destroyed his windshield dented the roof (was a little car with a big hood).
