So today I noticed my Liberty has managed to stop counting miles driven - all on its own. The good thing is it’s “not aging anymore” but my gas mileage estimate has taken a serious dive. I have additional symptoms that appeared recently. My outside temperature gauge is stuck on 71 degrees even during a Georgia 91 degree day and my front electric cooling fan is stuck on from the moment I turn the key on till I shut it down regardless of what my air conditioning is doing.

The speedo works properly, the water temperature gauge seems to work correctly and the Air Conditioning is working correctly.

Any one want to take a stab at what the root cause is?

2005's didn't have speed sensors in the rear wheels. Its on the rear diff instead. The wiring to that ABS sensor is pretty exposed and easily damaged. Check that before you tear apart your hubs.

I was seriously confused because the error codes indicates there are a left and a right rear wheel speed sensor problem and RockAuto lists but is out of stock of a left side and a right side sensor as well as selling and stocking a center mount sensor. Wow, what a screwup in documentation by Jeep. So I had occasion to replace my rusted out broke upper control arm recently and took that opportunity to replace the center mounted wheel speed sensor. It did not fix my problem. Before sensor replacement, the ABS and Brake idiot lights would light once in a while, after replacement the lights come on when I first hit a bump and then stay on.

So, I need to trace the wires under the body and look for a damaged wire... yay.

Thanks... I'll post an update soon as I find it.

There are only three (3) speed sensors that provide speed signals directly to the ABS module on the 2005 Jeep Liberty's.
One on top of the Rear axle assembly -- speed sensor -- 56028187AE
One each on the front wheels located inserted into the front wheel hub bearings.
Right. Part Number: 52128692AF
Left. Part Number: 52128693AF

Be careful when buying the sensor on the rear differential because it has a computer in it and the ones from the auto parts store are complete crap! Make sure to get it from the dealer... I keep 3 in stock at work for this reason

I'm experiencing the same failure right now with the right front wheel speed sensor. Odometer and trip meter not working. so more research is needed.

The wheel speed (or ABS) sensors are:
2002-2006 Jeep Liberty - Anti-Lock Brakes Sensor, Right - Mopar (52128694AE)
2002-2007 Jeep Liberty - Anti-Lock Brakes Sensor, Left - Mopar (52128695AF)

ref: https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar ... EyODY5NEFE
https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar ... EyODY5NUFE

NOTE: Some vendors on eBay and Amazon don't list any 2005 KJ model in their compatibility databases for these parts.

ALSO: mopar.com lists wheel speed sensor 56028187AE for 2001-2005 Dodge trucks. Will it fit a KJ?
56041393AA is the rear axle wheel speed sensor for 2002-2006 Jeep Liberty (ref: '05 KJ fiche and mopar.com)
