For the record, I am trying to get time to finish my deburring machine project. This should significantly speed up the post machining production of the Hot Diesel Solutions Model 001 engine thermostat assembly.

I am also looking to start development of a H.D.S. Model 002 for the Baby Duramax engine.

We drove the daily CRD down to Pensacola FL this week.

I like my gauges. I have a UltraGauge hooked up in the CRD and my 40(TDI).

Does anyone else have a gauge that tells them intake air temp? On the CRD, it seems really high to me... On my 40 it runs about 2 degrees F over ambient temp. It climbs a little when working it hard. But pretty steady. The CRD will run 107 degrees F when its 65 degrees out..

Just trying to get some data before I start mounting the CRD in the 40.

The MAP sensor has a temperature bulb in it to measure intake air temperature.
Can you use it via a scan device through the OBD port?

0 281 002 845 3 bar (11 kPa @ 0.25V , 307 kPa @ 4.75V)
- 0.2 - 3.0 bar (44psi) Pressure Sensor for air
-40 - 130 deg C Temperature sensor for air

Thanks, when I get home, I will put my scan tool on it to see if it is just a bad sensor.

I finally got the CRD to run without all the extra stuff!!! Pretty excited about that. I did have to keep the Skim module.... But, that's not the end of the world. I am gonna clean up some wires and take it for a drive to make sure the trans still shifts and what not. But, I don't think I touched any of those wires, so I think the trans should be fine. When I have Yeti do the tune, I will have him remove the few codes that have come up.

This morning I downloaded the stock ecm file and sent it to Yeti to tune with a list of codes to remove from the bcm and stuff not being hooked up. The list of codes was way shorter than I thought it would be. Forward progress finally...

After the motor is pulled, are you going to offer any parts off the car you don't use for sale?

Sure, what are you looking for?

So far, what I plan on using is motor/trans, under hood wiring harness, air box, power steering res, coolant res, frame side motor mounts, rear coil spring upper and lower mounts, maybe brake switch...

I'm looking for a gateway module with the wiring connector and enough wire I can splice it.

Hey fj, if you still have the CRD remains, I am looking for the following parts:

1. Batt tray and hold down.

2. Retainer bracket for an EVIC (the plastic thing taped to the inside roof that holds the EVIC or dome lights).

If you have either of these let me know...

I should have both of them. I will look when I get home.

Making progress!
I hope nothing was harmed during that wire explosion on the KJ...
Is that sound deadening or insulation on the FJ hood? Or both?

As for Steve777, don't the 2005 & up EVICs just sandwich to the headliner? Thought I read where the older models had the plastic piece stuck to the roof. The one I just pulled from a 2005 is the sandwich style.

LOL. No sir. No wires that I needed were harmed in the removal. I will need to shorten a tonnnnn of wires. I did buy the ends of the wires already, I will take 1 at a time out of the plug and shorten... and repeat...
Yes, sound deadening/insulation combo.
The CRD is out and cleaned up. The VW will be out tomorrow. Been taking lots of measurements as it has been coming out. I believe that the CRD is gonna fit in the engine compartment of the 40 way better than the VW did!!

And thanks for reminding me... I forgot to look for the parts for Steve777.
I will get that done.

FWIW, I had read that 2005+ only had the bracket if they had an EVIC installed. The regular dome lites just clipped in. But if there is an evic there, the bracket should be too.

Which insulation/sound deadener brand did you use? I've got the headliner out of my W250 CTD and was planning on adding sound deadener like Roadkill or something but a combo with insulation would be ideal for the cab roof.

On the bottom side of the hood it was Dynamat underhood insulation.

On the firewall it was a wool product more like the factory used to use. I forget the brand name right now. I will look to see if I still have a box laying around. The guy said it would keep out more heat and noise on the firewall. It was not self adhesive... So I put in on and all the things that bolt to the firewall hold in on. And I used aluminum tape around the edges. Seems to hold on pretty good. We put 10K miles on this last summer. Considering the 40 is just a single layer of metal it is pretty quiet inside.

Cool, I'll check it out. My '92 Club Cab is basically just a big tin can too.
Thanks,
