So this can be done without any welding? Cut in front of the CAT and at the other side of the OE muffler? Then install new muffler and pipes and use clamps?
Point is, is any welding needed?
Any good muffler shop can make you a piece of 2.5" straight exhaust pipe and flare it on one end to slip over the stock 2.5" head pipe after you cut the pipe in front of the CAT two bolt connection which is a choke point. Once you slip the new straight pipe over the cut off head pipe, you can put an exhaust pipe (2 3/4") clamp on it to secure it. See diagram
Muffler should be a straight flow through type with 2.5" inlet & outlet. Center inlet, offset outlet. Depending on new muffler length, you may have to add a short piece of pipe from the muffler outlet to connect the OEM rear tailpipe it you plan to keep it in service.
