Throwing a P1267 code#4 glow plug. Still have warranty left so called the dealer. FYI they said glow plugs are on national back order and the first 120 are already spoken for.

That just might be good news :!: It's just possible the next ones will be metal instead of ceramic
Someone said Bosch stopped making the ceramic ones. Of course our ECM's will need a flash to work correctly with them

Not to worry! You have the GDE reprogrammer. They have already mentioned that if/when this happens you simply email them a copy of the dealer installed tune and they'll apply the changes and email you the tune you have that will include the changes :SOMBRERO:

I just replaced the glow plugs. What came out was Bosch and what went in is the 80041 Bosch and they looked exactly the same.

Is the 80041 number the Bosch part number for what VM put in and Chrysler sells?

I just googled "Bosch 80041" and came up with this.
"Bosch Glow Plugs Glow Plug - Inconel 601 - Jeep - Liberty - Detroit Diesel 4-Cylinder." from this site.

http://www.streetperformance.com/part/b ... 80041.html
Are Inconel metal ones??

The numbers on the new and old glow plugs are just productions numbers for they don't match either Mopar or Bosch part numbers. Both had Bosch written on them at the same place and looked exactly the same.

The new glow plugs for the Liberty CRD offered by Jeep are metal and it involves more than just replacing the plugs.

This is beginning to sound just like a TDI thread regarding glow plugs ;-)

Yep. And as far as I can determinel VW recalled the ceramic ones and replaced them with metal. I wonder what Fiat/Chrysler/new car company will do as "old car company" built our crd's :jester:

I am pretty sure GDE will update his flash to the latest revision if you need to change the GPs. Weather you DIY, or take it to the dealer.

I confirmed what you discovered with my dealer and it is a new revised/updated 4 glow plug and controller kit.

I put one kit order already to arrive sometime next month.

Thank you for the heads up Jinstall.

Did Chrysler mention anything about needing the engine controller to be retuned for the new glow plugs and relay? We would be amazed and skeptical if it did not...but it would reduce our potential workload

How much does this kit cost? Sounds like it would be good for me the next time around.

There is a separate glow plug controller, also called glow plug control module.
