Hey Old Navy - that CRS is kickin' again. :? I do have a question. Since VM Motori has/is using a provent type cannister on their engines how difficult would it be to get one? Possibly a source in Europe? By looking at the photos it appears to be smaller than the Provent and it might make it easier to install. As long as it is for an engine the same size or larger it should work fine. Any thought s to this?

The VM website has a email address for tec questions, maybe they could help. That or get hold of the guy who is in Germany with the US spec CRD and maybe he can find out from a local dealer there in Germany.

Suffering CRS bigtime here as of late.

I live in the Atlanta area and am technical enough to understand the problem that necessitates the pro-vent on the CRD, but not mechanically inclined enough to understand how (or where specifically in the motor it hooks up) to install one on my CRD. I have a really good rapport with my dealership. I won't need to remove it for warranty repairs (the diesel tech there will understand he is a big diesel guy himself with his own personal cars) when I explain to him why it is there. Is there anyone in this area who can help me out with a referral to get one installed properly by someone who understands where it needs to be hooked up? With only 3k on my odometer, I'd like to preserve the turbo and intercooler for as long as possible, because from what I am reading, odds are it is going to fail after my 7/70 powertrane has lapsed and I dont want to be stuck paying for a new one of either of those parts, plus the cleaning.
It would be easier if we knew what part of the world you live in dude.

Just talked with SA and the tech and I have been oked for new hoses & IC for the oil problem.

I just figured they would go for a cleaning, but they are doing a full replacement. Make's me feel all giggly.

The FS-2500 is a good bypass filter. Haven't seen the comparison to Amsoil bypass.

I listen to the trucking shows on XM radio while in the Semi and they seem to be fighting it out with Gulf Coast Filters over who does the best oil scrubbing.

I hadn't given it a thought, but it would be interesting to put a FS2500 on the CRD. Let me know if you do it and where you mounted it.

I may be chiming in a bit late but installed a provent last weekend and man it was quite a hassle. Very little room (put it on the left side in front of the coolant overflow tank) and the mounting bracket I fabed up isn't the prettiest either, however it fits nicely and looks fairly stock. And to top it off the pluming for it was a nightmare. I will try to get picks if anyone is interested.

Richard,

Here's a link to one of the member's installs:

And some pics of mine:

You can do this yourself - it's not tough. :)
