When it started, it was a loud rattle, then turned into a drone at higher rpm, disapearing around 1600 rpm. It was extremely loud on mine, nothing insignificant about it and seemed to reverb inside the cab. It was also easy to diagnose, when idling in my driveway one morning, it started and I put my shoe on the muffler tailpipe - it stopped. Even after checking the muffler hanger and joints, I could not find anything to cause the rattle. I've not heard of many CRD's with this issue. Only a few.
