My wife said it was worse on the right side. Yes, mine was worse at stoplights and idle. It didn't always do it at stoplights, but when it did, it was unmistakable. When it started, it was a loud rattle, then turned into a drone at higher rpm, disapearing around 1600 rpm. It was extremely loud on mine, nothing insignificant about it and seemed to reverb inside the cab. It was also easy to diagnose, when idling in my driveway one morning, it started and I put my shoe on the muffler tailpipe - it stopped. Even after checking the muffler hanger and joints, I could not find anything to cause the rattle. I've not heard of many CRD's with this issue. Only a few.

Thanks Ranger1. I'll try the shoe trick! Are your shoes DC approved!!

No, found a local dealer listed on the AT site. Had to take it to a Midas shop as the dealer was a performance shop and didn't provide installation.

When they did your install, what did they do to compensate for the offset of the factory muffler?

You are right about having more noise on the righthand side of the Jeep. Noticed this about a month ago while riding in the front passenger seat on a long trip. Had reclined the seat to catch some ZZZ's while my friend drove. Was awoke by the blood rushing to my head when he went to pass some trucks up a mountain grade. I looked up and he was doing 90 something up about a 6% grade. Makes a very distinctive howl on that side under load, especially noticable with the seat reclined.

I don't know what they did to match the offset, but it looks right and fits in just like it was factory installed. All I saw him do was cut off the old muffler, and take the flange that bolts to the cat and install it to the cat, then line up the muffler, then line up a 1 foot piece of 2.5" pipe on the back side of the muffler, make some adjustments and then start welding. It took about 30 minutes from first cut on the old muffler to driving it away.

Does anyone experience a little extra engine noise and vibration at around 800 RPM? Mine has a dull reverb that begins right above idle and then it goes away around 900 rpm. I can also feel the vibration in the steering column. Tried shifting between P-F-R and it doesn't seem to be tranny related.
Annoying little buzz.
Have also noticed it does it sometimes at stop signs and red lights - particularly with A/C going - idle in drive.
It's a 2005 with 10K miles.
I was wondering if normal or do I have other issues? Motor mounts, etc?

Hi TDICRD58,
Do you still have the noise... or did you fit a new muffler?.
My Aero Turbine arrived today.

For those who are interested, Verocious Motorsports in the US have a special on AT single mufflers at the moment...US$50 off!
Regards

Did you buy the basic 2525 or the new 2525XL with the built in resonator? I am about to order one and undecided which one to buy.

Chose the basic/standard AT2525.
Haven't noticed any great change in exhaust noise except it has a little deaper note at idle...sounds fine to me. I have taken some "before" noise readings and will take some "after" readings on Monday.
The muffler change didn't fix my problem though.
