I use an old Lucas fuel treatment bottle. It has lines marked on the bottle every 2ozs. so you can measure how much you're putting in.

Has anyone tried one of those Sta-Bil bottles. You know, the kind with the litte measuring spout?

Seems like that would be just about perfect.....if it doesnt melt that is.

Dont know if anyone else mentioned, but I use the 16 oz water bottles after they are empty. Usually I will fill about 12 of these at a time, since the process can be messy. Then I have single use, disposable, one shots I take to the fueling station. Empty into the tank and toss. I know of a couple others on here doing the same.

You arent putting the whole 16 oz worth in there are you? That would be enough for 50 galllons of fuel!

That's what I like about the 12 oz soda bottles, I generally put 8 oz in the bottles. That will give me 12 bottles from a 96 0z jug and does 12 tanks and makes it easy for the wife to put into the tank if she is filling the tank. All she does is put the bottle in the driver side rear door and she has nothinf to hassle with and when the bottle is empty we just toss them in the trash.

As PT Barnum once said "no one went broke underestimating the intelligence of the american people".

Oh, and don't forget the "Marvel Mystery Oil"

I guess you have never been stranded in the middle of nowhere when the fuel you have gels up  Not only are you stuck there, you also get to freeze your butt off since there is no heat either.
So you can have your opinion.............. I will have mine and I will never be stranded for that reason again.

Oh BTW guys just FYI a 3406 Cat will run on straight PS , but it won't be happy about it :P (long story)

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried using the Lucas Fuel Treatment on a regular basis?

Two gents I work with swear by it. They both own Dodge Cummins, and both are very particular about the way they care for them. It literally floored them when I said that the owners manual on the CRD didn't call for replacing the fuel filter until 24K miles. Both of them were firm believers in doing the monthly draindown on their fuel filters, and in changing them out at a minimum every year prior to the onset of winter or 10K miles, whichever came first.

As particular as they were about this and other items, I took note when both of them swore by regular use of Lucas Fuel Treatment, and were quite serious when they stated it bumped up their fuel mileage by at least 2 mpg.

Well, money talks and BS walks. A quart jug was $9 at O'Reillys, so I grabbed one and will be giving it a try in the '87 MB. We'll see in a month or so whether it actually works, or is simply placebo snake oil.

for those interested in checking it out, www.lucasoil.com .

That;s what I use, and I have a 10 oz line on it. I just reuse the same bottle.

You guys should be using the 12 Coke or Pepsi bottles, single shot for correct mix and then just throw the bottle away. 8)
Been doing that for years now, no spillls or leaks, but plenty of strange looks at the pumps over the years.

I used to use a glass coke bottle, but it had water in it. Hold your thumb over the hole and trickle the water down the carb to steam clean the intake. :D I go with the 10 oz level. I tried doing the math but I figuered since it is so blamed cold up here, and I went for the increased cetanes, 10 works for me.

That sounds a little rich to me, but they do say it bumps up your cetane. Bug killer? What's that?

Biocide o keep the bacteria and fungi from starting to build a home in my tank.

96 oz treats 100 gal
100 gal = 5 tanks on CRD
96/5 = 19.2 oz per bottle

Regular #2 diesel will grow stuff, just do a Goole for what will grow in diesel both dino & bio. I knew about critters growing in diesel long (think decades) before I ever heard of biodiesel.

I use Power Service Bio Klean Power Service that I buy from local fuel center provider.

Thanks guy. I will check around. I found a place on line that sells 16 oz jugs. Looks like you onlu use about 1/2 oz per tank when you treat is. Maybe quarterly. Any thing else I should know about the critters?

I just put in 1/2 oz in every container in the summer & winter, but sometimes I forget to add it to the mix and have to do a 1 or 2 oz shock to get back on track. That said most tank farms or bulk suppliers will treat fuel with a biocide when they get it from the refinery. However I don't want to depend on that as cleaning the groth from the fuel system can be time comsuming and expensive.

The reason I don't buy the 16 oz bottles is they cost twice as much as the 96 oz jug.
