Sweet! Those aren't stock rims, are they? How do you like them on the highway? Is the economy OK? Noise? I want a cool look but I spend 95% of my time on the road so I want something quiet that gets decent MPG. Yeah I know, I can't have it all...

They look like stock rims to me, just covered in mud. CRDbucket, I suggest you look into the KUMHO Venture MT 834 tires. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... ure+MT+834
I've done quite a bit of research, and have the same needs and desires from a tire as you have stated. This is the next tire purchase I am going to be making myself.

No such thing as a quiet M/T or A/T, quieter maybe, but not quiet, Street tires are quiet, and at 31.9" dia. mpg does suffer more.
Stock LTD rims no wheel spacers.
No, you can't have it all, don't work that way.

Yar!
Greg, the one review said:

Granted it is a lil noisy on the road but hey its a mud tire what do u expect.

I was looking at Michelins at Sam's Club this week. They had some Bridgestones that looked pretty decent too. I have to wear out my crappy stock tires (I can hardly get up my driveway with a half inch of snow) but I'm having fun researching...

I think these are our OEM tires http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Wrangler+ST&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=275SR6WRST&fromCompare1=yes&place=4 They really do blow goats---and they suck in the snow!

Greg, check this out too. I would have never thought of Pirelli's. I'd probably go with the Silent Armor http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=ORAT&width=265%2F&ratio=75&diameter=16&tireSearch=true

Any advantage of the Petrol KJs using these CRD OME springs? Especially if they provide an adequate amount of lift...these could definitly be an advantage for a gasser. Any comment from Heather or All J's??

These may not be worth the time for those not interested (NON CRD) in an aftermarket bumper or bull bar. The stiffer springs may be harder to settle/sag and could lead to quick wear on CV's, CV Boots, UBJs, etc... Sorry to sway off the CRD Topic...just wondering if it would be helpful to us gas owners. Thanks.

Just an update, these CRD OME springs are going to be rated at 500 lbs. I will be trying them on a very heavy gasser as well to test.

With only a front mount hitch on my KJ, which is all I ever want, will the 500lb rating be too much of an offset for what OME has available for the rear of my KJ?

This is good news as I have been waiting to get the new coils to support the ARB bullbar I currently have on my vehicle . I have managed to get around the problem using spacers but have already sent ARB a mail last year to query these coils. They were extremely helpful and have expressed interest in replacing my existing OME coils with the new upgrade under warranty . I will wait and see . For those interested in finding out more why don't you contact ARB direct . The contact person is : Lachlan McCann at mail address : exports@arb.com.au

I will definetly be sending a query to them as a follow up.

I sent this to Heather

Quote:
I am interested in the new CRD springs coming out. What will the free height of the new springs be and will I still need to use spacers to get the full lift.

She replied

Quote:
The free height is the same at the 927 springs. They are 1mm thicker than the 927 springs and they are 500lb rated.

Does this mean we will still need spacers up front?

We know that the OME HD's (rated at 400 lbs/inch) are just right for the petrol KJ.
The CRD is about 9 % heavier on the front axle (90 kg extra on 1000 kg). So the correct spring rate would be about 435 lbs.
A bit stiffer would still seem acceptable, but 500 lbs is over the top.
My conclusion: the new OME's are correct for the CRD with heavy equipment (ARB bumper and winch), but too stiff for the rest of us.
I am disappointed; was hoping to see a spring of 425 - 450 lbs.

Sure sounds like it! I was hoping they would be taller and net at least a safe basic 2.5" of lift, and not have to fool with spacers. You could always space if you waned to go higher.... 2.5" is the accepted norm!

Come on ARB, this isn't rocket science!
You were the first to give us the ARB winch bumper, now just give us suitable springs rates based on the safe limits of a 2.5" lift, and you should see sales score. WE, the consummers are here, and still waiting.

Sorry for the rant but, I've already been waiting years for something new and this just doesn't measure up to my expectations of ARB.

Read this post, the fifth message down:

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=14583

Stock springs are 410lbs and King Springs already has the specs and has already produced a set rated at 465lbs. Could be a better fit as the post I just referenced above has a member already testing these and is quite happy with them.
