The new combined mileage is just about spot-on with what I get regularly commuting (50/50 city/hwy). However, the highway rating is way off. On a road trip running just highway miles, I consistently get between 26 and 30, varying depending on the wind direction.

The new EPA estimates are dead on for my CRD. I do about 75% highway driving an get a little ofer 23 mpg overall.

My '03 Jetta TDI (5 speed manual) averaged about 47-48 mpg over the life of the vehicle. I'll be interested to see what the new '08 Jetta with a common rail diesel will get, according to the EPA.
