FWIW, I got the Prodigy brake control and absolutely love it. From the evening of research I did, it looks to be very highly recommended and one of the best on the market.

Ditto. The CRD has plenty of "go", but the short wheelbase makes the "whoa" more exciting than I'd like. The prodigy works very well for me in keeping the "whoas" from becoming "Oh NO"s.

BTW, just as a reference point, I pull a 6x12 dual axle enclosed trailer which houses three motorcycles and all of my tools and other track essentials. The last time I weighed it, I was right @ 4600lbs. I don't have sway control on it, but I am running a Load Distributing (LD) hitch, which makes a HUGE difference in the handling of the Jeep. I found that when the front got light, the handling got twitchy. LD = No more twitchiness.

No problem. If you ever do find yourself in a sway condition, like a semi going like a batt outta Hell passes you while there is a crosswind, DON"T hit your brake pedal. Simply reach down on the controller and give the slide switch a gentle pull that activate the trailer brakes only. This should straighten you up and get you back on course.

Just picked up the new trailer and towed it about 70 miles in our famous foothills and it towed awesome. I did not have the sway control installed (did it later that night) but there was no worries with big trucks and buffetting. I was impressed by the Jeep and am looking forward to some early spring (skiing) camping next week.

Thanks for all of the infor gang!

Mike

We have the sway control. In West Texas with our winds, sway control is a life saver. I think its a must. The dealer wired our trailer battery so that it charges when you drive and of course, when its plugged in at a campground. Don't have a clue how it works. He did tell us not to leave it parked attached to the vheicle power. That its possible to run the Liberty battery down. Hope that helps.

Unless you have non-standard wiring on the Jeep's connector, I don't think that you have to worry about this. I believe that the trailer (and hence the Jeep's trailer socket) is only hot w/ the Jeep's key in the "on" position. A multimeter would confirm this, of course. ;)
