disconnect the battery for 20 min and then drive the jeep with as low throttle as possible for the first week.I found out that the tranny adapts extremely well to your driving style in t he first couple of days.

My final OD kicks in around 64mph and then I can back off and cruise at 55mph and hold...

Same here and the F31 didn't change that.

According to your chart, at 120 KPH with or without the OD engaged you get the same gas milage.
I find that hard to believe, is there a typo in the chart? Or, did the OD engage for both readings? Just the difference in RPM listed should make the MPGs have a variance.

Interesting information. Thanks for sharing.

Good eye, I will have to fix that. It should be:

Metric (Canada) 14.70 L/100KM
Metric (Europe) 6.80 KM/L
US Gallons 16.09 MPG
Imperial Gallons 19.22 MPG

with OD on.

On a recent highway trip I kept the RPMs at 1800, and that resulted in a speed of 62-63 mph. My EVIC (usually high by 2 mpg) ranged between 34.4 and 35.3 mpg. I was amazed at the readings. I have not yet filled up, the trip was only about 200 miles, but my gas gauge is halfway between the 1/4 and 1/2 marks and I have 425 on this tank.

I picked the E320 CDI up today and drove it home and the EVIC said I averaged 37.6 mpg for the trip. Not bad for a 2+ ton car.

Yeah...but the extra cash outlay required to purchase the E320 could buy a lot of diesel. :)

Hey at least I fit comfortably in the MB, I could not sayt that about the CRD and the MB has lots of bells & whistles that the Jeep did not have to say the least. I pulled out and passed a semi and went from 65 mph to 100 mph by the time I got around the truck. The car is a real pleasure to drive to say the least. :D

I'm sure it is. I've always like MBs, but other than slobbering over them at the dealer, I've never sat in one, ridden in one, or otherwise enjoyed such a fine piece of German engineering.

If you didn't fit comfortably in the the CRD, you much be bigger than I am, so I feel sorry for you. I'm 6'5" with a 36" inseam and did a 1200 mile round trip drive in my Liberty with no discomfort. Leg room and head room are always big limiters for me. The CRD had decent amounts of both.

Strangely enough, the Audi A4 is the only car I've ever owned that I didn't have to push the seat all the way back to drive. It has LOTS of legroom. Headroom wasn't very good, I couldn't wear a ball cap or anything in that car and my hair brushed the roof, but the leg room was great.

I have to say though, for the money the Benz demands, I'd be really tempted to pull the trigger on a V10 TDI Toureg. That's a BEAST of a diesel vehicle. Fuel mileage isn't so good though. Of course, a big Dodge Cummings truck would be cool too.

These figures are neato... but they are using the Scanguages estimated MPG feature, this may not be the actual miles per gallon. The book that comes with the scanguage states that you have to tell it when you fill up and give it how many miles you went. It then uses this data to compute your MPG in the future. So the MPG estimate is just its educated guess based on past information stored in the computer. As such, it will not tell you if you are getting different MPG in 2wd, 4HI, 4FULL or 4Part time. the scanguage does not know what these even are, nor does it take into consideration how they could impact your mileage.

I can assure you that in the real world, 4-Full does impact your mileage very significantly. Otherwise, I would run it all the time.

I'm 6'5" with 31" inseam and 16D shoe, roof is low and the floor is too narrow and I don't have room to move around in, seats are uncomfortable for me.

It does not require that information, it uses it to make a better educated guess. My guess would be it uses how much fuel is being used with the speed you travelling. By changing how much fuel I have used at the last fill up I can affect my mileage reading by a few MPG either way.
