I just stick the tip of the bottle in the hole, turn the bottle on it's side slightly inverted, and squeeze the living s**t out of it. I've never had any trouble, spills, or sore hands afterwards. Maybe I'm just a brute?

I tried to look this up in the owner's manual at the time I did mine
but could only find specs, not capacities.
I bought 4 Quarts. The front takes a little less than the rear. I ended up
with abut 8 ounces left over. The book says to fill to 1/2" under the fill
hole, as if you could watch it. I just ''fill til spill'' then it's enough.
Good luck.

Hey 1TDI4Me, did you say you found the 1/2 inch spec in the owners manual? I couldn't remember where I found that.

Amsoil Bottle Pump works well for me.

I used one of these when I did my transfer case. It really made the job easy.

So, how does one know if they have "Trac-lok" or not? I have a 2005 Limited CRD without the off-road package. The rest of the gear oil change seems straightforward. I'm glad you folks all reminded me about it.

You should really get a build sheet  And if you bought it new and have the window sticker it will be listed there also 8) It has all that info on it. Also I think I've seen mention of a tag, lable or something attatched on the rear diff :D

I use Royal Purple 75w-90 and the 140 . the 140 for the back and the 75 for the front. I went to Advance Auto Parts and bought a gasket for the rear Differential cover. I didn't torket as the book said, I just torket by touch and no leaks CRD seems smoother than before.

You can also jack up the rear end so the tire comes off the ground, then turn one, and if the other tire rotates the opposite direction the you do not have Trac-lok
