Longview, I agree with you. Despite what a troll might think, the merit or lack of it for the F37 is beside the point. You are right to be upset. You communicated what you wanted clearly to the dealer. The dealer agreed. They have either lied to you or to Jeep in order to get reimbursed for something they didn't do. Neither is ethical. I guess the F37 could have been applied before you bought the Jeep, and the timing of it showing up on the website could be just a coincidence, but I doubt it.

It is a possibility that the previous owner had maintenance done on the vehicle that required a reflash and F37 software was already on the vehicle when you purchased it. May not have been obvious to the boys at the Jeep home office because it wasn't specifically listed as F37 but was under another maintenance item.

Might be that the dealership hooked up a scanner for nothing other than to check for any DTC's that didn't throw a CEL, noted the software version installed, and when that info popped up on the computer system back at corporate they saw "CF" and assumed that F37 had been performed and took your vehicle off the recall list.

Similar situation with Ranger1 - he had to have his TC and tranny replaced prior to F37 being officially released, and was reflashed with F37 software because it was already in the system. For all intents and purposes, F37 was performed on his vehicle, but still Jeep has his vehicle on the recall list. Not only that, when he contacted them by phone and explained the situation, they still refused to take him off the F37 list unless he went to a dealership and had F37 done AGAIN.

I have to say, I have not been able to figure out what all the weeping and moaning regarding the F-37 is about. It was done to mine quite some time ago and I have never noticied a difference in torque, acceleration, or fuel mileage. I can still smoke the rear tires if I want and there is plenty of power for off road.

If there really was a 5% reduction in torque I never noticed.

I hate to say it, but I think this is another case of the knuckle dragging gear heads getting wild over nothing.
The only real change I noticed in the F37 was the drop in fuel mileage...

At this point all I really have is a discrepancy in what the Jeep website showed earlier this week compared to last.

Oddly enough, the website now show that I still have the F37 update outstanding.
Was there something goofy with the webiste all along? Maybe.
Did the dealer retract a false warranty claim after I confronted them? Maybe.
I guess I will never know.

Anway, I did have the software checked.
My TCM is showing 'AF' with the latest available being 'AJ'.
My ECM is showing 'BB' which the system says is the latest available. I though this one was wierd since you guys thought they started with a 'C'.

Thanks for putting up with my earlier rants.
I will try to keep the level of anger down in the future.

Longview,
I agree with the TCM showing 'AF' and the latest being available as 'AJ'

I'm scratching my head and surprised because release 'BB' for the ECM, I have never seen or heard before.
Did you stand next to the tech and read the software release off the DRB display for yourself, or did they write it down for you?

I recall some of the '05 models coming OEM from factory with version 'CB' in the ECM but not 'BB'.
Very interesting, unless DCX decided to start renaming the ECM flash versions

Well - ignore the website and ignore the software rev - go drive your Jeep - if they did an F37 Flash - there's a huge difference in the way it accelerates. It no longer takes off the same - it first rev's to 2300 rpm and then holds there waiting for the speed to catch up - it's noticable it's not subtle.
If you can't tell the difference - then either they didn't do it - or it was already done.

I just did the F37 recall last week, I was going in for a CEL for my air mass sensor. They did not cover but I got a good deal on the part. They replaced the torque converter and reflashed.
I love the F37! I mainly do city driving. It shifts so smooth now. I found it lugging all the time. Now it shifts like a Cadillac! Shift points are nicely spread out not all mashed up so tight like before. :)

My Jeep never had any transmission work so I went to the Jeep website to check for recalls. Born date, 12-05
Results: No Incomplete Recalls or Customer Satisfaction Notifications Exist.
I wonder if this recall could of appeared with the dealer getting paid for it without them doing the work. How can I find out.

Pretty sure your build date is past the cutoff point.

What would the built date be, as I remember, I had my CRD for about a year when the recall came out

You would have to search some really old posts but as I recall everything after November 05 was called Safe, OK, Clean or something like that and F37 didn't apply because it was already done at the factory. I don't know if it was ever determined the replacement TC's were more of the same, had no manufacturing flaws or were actually improved. As I recall Dsl_lou bought a lot of donuts and got to watch so maybe he can fill us in on that. I think the transmission programming is a on going thing because when I had F31 done the tech also said I got F37  I told him I thought after a certain date they came with it but he stated they all neeed the TC as there was no difference :?: He may have been blowing in the wind  Mine has never gotten good mileage bt since I added a lift pump it runs fine  The transmission tech was on vacation and I didn't get a TC but at 11k miles it not broke so maybe later since I've got the extended 7/70 warranty :D
