Uffe I know this has nothing to do with the post, do you get a lot of snow in Denmark? Also if you do what do they use to de-ice the roads? I heard over in europe they use a non corrosive chemical. 8) 8)

I really like this truck. This forum is a necessity though to anyone that owns one. The problems experienced have solutions and it all can be understood reading this forum. Dealerships working on these could really educate themselves just by reading this forum. Most of the problems that members ask for a diagnosis I can now have a really good idea of an answer so I know what to look for on mine. It is not nearly as frightening when you know what the problem is or what to look for to eliminate a potential future problem. I hope this truck was a test like some have speculated. If they come back with the knowledge that a CCV filter, fuel lift pump, strong torque converter, better engineered EGR valve, decent battery, better quality turbo boost hoses, decent steering components, better tire selection, needs to be added to the future diesel offerings and put it in an affordable package; the vehicle will be a very sucessful adventure. (My mouth is watering while imagining this vehicle) These are all things that can be fixed on this vehicle but I understand those that say they should not need to do them while paying a sizable payment. I say I am willing to fix it for the pleasure of owning and driving it. I am not selling until the fixed one is available. Until then, this truck and I are "tight".

We use salt. The cars rust like hell over here if you don't get a decent underbody coating. There's a lot of specialized stores that will coat the car in anti-corrosive gunk and keep the metal nice and newish.

This winter we didn't have much need for salt though, so I'm happy about that. The KJ won't rust as much if the winters are mild, but it sucks to not have any snow - you lose some you gain some...

I also own a 2001 F350 diesel. 7.3 L PSD.

Never owned a diesel before and suddenly in three months I own two.

I even thought about going to vo-tech diesel classes at night.

But I found the Ford forum for that engine.

I live in that forum and like this forum, problems are presented and a good deal of advice is presented.

Guys love that engine compared to newer models.

They modify and upgrade that truck rather than getting a newer one.

Like the CRD, there are some troubles in design and components in the 7.3 L PSD and many owners choose to perform modifications and upgrades to correct the Ford bean counters' decisions.

I think the CRD is not for everyone but mine has been reliable and this forum gives me the confidence to keep it.

The nuts and bolts part is just swapping parts. You will need the 2.8L flywheel, Disk, pressure plate and a manual trans from a wreck. Since I have been looking for wrecked KJs and have found two that were well stripped, good luck.
The other problem you may have is with the ECM since the trans control unit talks to it. Others will need to cover that problem.

so you can forget about finding used flywheel.
it was never released fo sale in the states.

back to topic
I just purchased used 05 limited

realize that with just 11,000 us units'
engine parts are just about dealer ony items.
I work for dealer so I get discount on parts
otherwize I would be very cautious about purchase.

These motors have been reliable
thats why so many dealers are in the dark about servicing them
also not many parts on hand at dealerships
so if you need something your looking at 1day++??
to get back on road.

just something to think about..................

with diesel prices through the roof
dont be afraid to offer trade in price
theres many of them up for sale
