Where do you get the $1,800 figure from? Jeeps web site shows the same as what was on my sticker. 2,560 (1,240 for the Limited) for the CRD package plus $895 for the five speed auto.

You have added in the tranny into your calculations as if it's included with package. But it is charged seperately. The package for the Limited is cheeper because some of the options are already included in the base price.

Not really true. The tranny is *not* charged seperately for a Limited, according to Jeep's site on a 2005 as of today, Friday Oct 28.

One strange thing is that on a Sport model with the "C" package, the *only* engine package you can choose is the CRD. ???

The 2006 might be different.

The Limited version comes with a auto as standard equipment. The question there is do you have the 4speed (3.7L) or the 5speed (CRD).

On the sport (the version we were comparing) the 6speed manual is standard equipment and there IS a seperate charge for the auto. Again the question there is do you have the 4speed (gas) or the 5speed (CRD). You have no choice but to get the 5speed auto with the CRD. But you are still paying for the upgrade over the manual thats included in the base price.

Post subject:  6 speed manual

it's an interesting concept however when I ordered my 06 the 5 speed was an automatic upgrade (that I had to pay for) with the sport CRD package...though I was ordering from DOD overseas car sales so some of the options were limited compared to what a USA ordered Jeep gets Package B and CRD were not an option). Since I don't take posession of mine until I get stateside in 2 weeks I can't speak for how it performs...Planned mods are still under discussion

Sounds like something an old girl friend use to tell me back in early '70's.
